Melatonin is suppose to be a natural supplement that helps calm you. I have not tried it because I have an auto-immune disease that prohibits me from taking but it could be worth a try.

Loy, I don't have either of those CD;s of music, but I do know that water sounds do often help some of my T.
Birds that chirp for real in the morning, don't cover up my morning T., but I do enjoy hearing them regardless (chuckle)
I would like to buy a CD of water falls, or rain falling, or else buy one of those small water fall things, so your suggestion of rain fall, might come in handy for me in times like these, thanks.
I used to see those water fall thingy's all the time, but have not seen them recently. Does anyone know where they sell them. Bed and Bath maybe?
Debbie, I do have xanax, I will take one if I continue to feel this anxious. Also, the shower does help my morning T., I will do that later if needed.
I have to tend to my elderly mother soon, she lives three miles from me in assisting living...(in part, much of my stresful life) But, with that said, who knows if it even takes part with my T., or not?
I drank two large glasses of water, thinking maybe it will help wash out any sugar, salt, or cooties I might of ate, how redicules, but hey maybe it will work, who knows? At any rate, I am getting healthy, and thin.
I do think maybe the noise came down slightly.
It is so odd how T., can make me so darn anxious, almost the same kind of anxious I get when I get a bad migraine.
The good part about it is I clean, pick up, bake, cook, and so on...Yes, Debbie it might appear good that I am keeping busy, but it sure tires me out, and I wish I was not doing it with such intense dismay, not happy go lucky.
I try to think things could be worse. I could be having a migraine, or my darn heart palpitations, or some form of bad pain.
But for some reason, this darn noise in my ears is competing for priority.
When my ears both are ringing so loud as they were today, I feel almost like I should be dizzy, but thankful I am not.
Also, as I have said before many times in my life I have had ringing when I am suffering from a migraine, sick, very overtired, or right after a huge confrontation of some sort.
So, I think my mind relates this t, which appears to be here with out an event, to the T., I have experienced in the past due to a illness or stressful event.
Anyway, again, thank you for being here for me today and for your suggestions too.
It truly helped me to feel a bit better and not so isolated with my T., and the fears I also have along with it.

Helplessness, depression, fear of the unknown it's all part of the package when u have tinnitus. Do not feel bad that u have these feelings. I know i went thur all of these in my bad days. Tinnitus is a chronic illness and with any illness chronic or not we have to learn to cope with it. Which is not what i wanted to do when i first got this. I wanted it GONE!!!
I wanted the doc to give me a pill to make it go away. No pill exist.
so i had to learn to cope with it.
I will tell u what helps me.
I don't allow my self to go into
"Castophe thinking" I think i spelled that wrong. When i feel all those feelings and negative thinking. I say to myself(your not going to go into castohpe thinking today) If i do things get worse for me. Now this takes time and practice. there is a book called Castrophe Thinking and i can't remember the author. This book was awesome.
This has helped me alot.
Journal and see what your triggers your tinnitus. Journaling helped me figure out what was affecting me.I take one day at a time, b/c that is all i can do.
I hope this helps
It's free to try out and if you find something that helps the download is less that $1. Go to Amazon.com and click on MP3 downloads. Type in "White Noise" for the search and it will bring up many pages of white noise tracks. You can click on each noise to get a 30 second sample of what it sounds like.
I have found that tracks 66,77,83,92 and 103 work the best and i'm trying to pick the best one of these to download to my MP3 player. Plug a set of headphones into your computer when you sample the noises and I think you would be able to find something that does mask your tinnitus quite well. Hope this helps. John
All that had been stated is true. I have a very high t right now. This is day two. It just came out of the blue. This is what t. does. I want to scream but I have learned the less stress the faster it will come down.
Take it easy and take each day as it comes, it will calm down again.
God bless and hugs to you,
Sandy
Sue, well it would be worth a try, to stop bread, however it seems no matter what I add or take away, my T., seems to just come and go as it pleases. I also have an idolpathic immune diorder, they thought possilby Lupus, since my sister also has that, but then decided it was not. My skin changed light, my hair got thinner, I got severe arthritis, and fatigue years back. the fatigue and arthritis improved, and I more so got stablied, so who knows for sure. So, I will have to check and make sure I can take Melatonin.
Dave, I would like to get a white noise of rain fall/water fall, thanks for the suggestion. It was good to hear from you, hope things are going ok your way.
Soldiergi, Today when I was driving and of course thinking of my T, I thought about what you said, and thought about something nicer, and tried not to allow myself to think about my T., Yes, practice it will take, it worked briefly, but I soon returned to listening for it.
I have more so, kept record of food and T, work outs and T., BP and T, I thought reducing salt and losing weight helped the six weeks my T, improved, also stared taking Vitamin D, but now with this flare, wonder if it truly helped or not. At any rate I am over all eating better, feeling a bit better, lost weight, more active, less depressed, just anxious when the T., acts up, and I think I get tired when I run from it.
Thanks again, Pattylyn
Sandy, I hope your T, comes down, maybe the change in weather, ours here in WNY has been so hot, but cooled down some...Hummm, well I can't do anything about the weather.
I did find a machine that plays water fall, rain, ocean, and a few other nature sounds, it appears to help a bit.
