Everyone here knows how hard this can be, especially in the beginning.
I have found that distraction, and watching your diet, like Lorie has stated is the way to go. And I might add no stimulants like alcohol, and I have also found some cold meds, act as stimulants.
You found the best site you could have found, this is like a big family here, and we all care and support each other.
God bless,

I read an article the other day, that the DNR in Michigan has perfected a contraceptive for deer. All I could think of was all of us suffering with this, and the government spend money on deer contraceptive.
This sure has changed me as a person. I don't like the 'T', but I like the changes it has made in me as a person.
Anyway, since it is daily noise that's bothering you, you'll likely be using earplugs quite a bit, and you might find these as helpful as I have. The only problem is, they're too expensive to have multiple pairs lying around (around $145 for my first pair, but future one would be cheaper since I've been fitted already).
A bit about the experience: you'll be fitted for the plugs themselves, which are molded specifically for your ear (and that mold can be reused if you need them replaced down the road). There are several companies who make the molds, but there seems to be only one company that makes the filters themselves, which come in -9db, -15db, and -25db. You'll choose one of those, and you'll also get an actual "plug" that comes with it if you want to use them like traditional earplugs. I bring all this up so you'll be prepared - you'll have to choose one of the three. I got the -15db and I was afraid they were a bit too much so I went back and purchased the -9db and I think they're about right for my needs. I don't think you'll need the -25db filters...if you need to cut out that much noise, use the plugs.
That's my 2 cents anyway, but I did just see these hunter's plugs at the bottom of this page which might be of interest to you: http://www.westone.com/hearing/what-is-a-custom-earpiece
Get a T masker that works best for you. Make sure it is a boring sound (fan or airconditioner). Most T's find a steady waterfall with volume increased to just cover your T works fine. You can get the little clock radios with rain, waterfalls, and other nature sounds. But stick with the most boring one Don't fret you will get used to it and your T will begone for sleeping.
When yard working, on your car or other tasks wear a headset (a good one) get a MP3 player (again a good one with NO STATIC). Play it just so your T is masked, It's amazing how your T will disappear. I like oldies and they work fine. NO LOUDNESS ALLOWED.
THIS IS A BIG ONE. Don't let the T get to you. Don't let it mess with your time or energy. Let it go completely. The more attention and energy you give the more it will bother you. In most cases T is not painful, dangerous, or in any way hurtful unless you give it the power. FORGET ABOUT IT push it out of your consciousness. It's gone, let it go, and soon it will have no control over you rather it'll become a minor nuisance.
If you can't sleep see your doctor for some help. Ambien and lunesta do the job well as both are hypnotics and work in a short time. No sleep is a bad thing. Can ruin your day and you're health. Plus it adds a lot of fuel for our old friend T.
That's about it for now. As always there is no perfect solutions for everyone. But keep trying till you find the one that fits. Stay away from the thousands of miracle cures out there from horse tablets to a silver cap on your head.
God bless,
Paul
