It's not bad. I think thyroid patients are particularly fussy. ;) But it's nothing compared to chemo so we really have it good, honestly. I had a huge dose and couldn't touch my husband for 10 days. The worst that happened was that I was pretty nauseous and sleepy for the first few days. Do NOT plan to work or do anything for the first 5 days at least; everyone reacts differently. I didn't like the low-iodine diet cause I was a huge cheese/milk person, lol. But yeah, salt is EVERYWHERE! I'm assuming you've seen the website ThyCa.org by now, but if you haven't, they have a lot of GREAT information. :)

I haven't gone to that website yet but I will this week. Thank you for the advice. I am not working now because I lost my voice after surgery. Both vocal chords were paralyzed. I just got one chord back working but I am still very hoarse. I have been off work on short term disability since January 9th. My job is phone work so it is impossible to work. No one would be able to hear me on the phone. I am a very anxious person. My surgeon said to me that I have nothing to worry about the RAI but he knows me. When I had my FNB, I was drugged that I didn't feel a thing. I was in happy land. :)

Oof, that's horrible! Sorry about the voice! Make sure not to stress it -- vocal chords are a big deal! As far as the RAI, that website will REALLY put your mind at ease. I think the more you know, the better you feel about everything. They do mention possible side effects but they are usually not experienced by very many people. The nausea is pretty common, but again, manageable. :)
