Morning/evening hens,
Well I have a problem. If you have a Queasy stomach please read no further. One of my baby chickens is hurt. My favorite one too. I think what may have happened is that it got bit. Something crawled under the fence and got two of my babies and carried them off. Took me a while to find the hole and fix it. Anyway, I'm thinking this baby got bit on the leg. Day before yesterday I went out to the pen to feed them and she was laying on her side and couldn't get up. I know the humane thing to do would be to put her out of her misery but I couldn't do it. She has a hole in her leg and maggots are all over it:( yesterday though, she was up and hobbling around on one foot. I'm wondering if she could possibly heal? They actually use maggots on human flesh to clean the infection. What do ya'll think? She I leave her alone or have my BIL come up and put her down?
I haven't been out to check on her yet this morning.....scared to.....but I know I have to/(
Any hoooooo, I have to take son in for a counseling apt. , then go to tanning bed and that's it for me.

Don't know whether its any help, but a few years ago the neighbor got me helping her sort out her guinea pig. It was one of those long haired ones, i think she had neglected to care for it in some way. Its fur was all matted and it had maggots buried in the skin, i had to hold it still while she cut all the fur and she got out all the maggots, it had the awful smell ! Anyway, after a good clean and sort out, it was fine! I cant promise your chicken will be tho if you do the same.

Surgery on husbands eye went well. I will be doing his last set of drops in a minute. Yesterday was rough but today better. No fuzzies. Long week. Tomorrow and Friday. We have Kylie due to volleyball camp. Tomorrow night kegan graduates from preschool.
I have been watching nature on my front porch. Mama dear and baby , a chipmunk, and baby squirrels. We also have lizards, butterflies, humming birds and finches, bluejays, cardinals . Just happy to see them all.
Well two long days and I am turning in.
