Kim...hospitals can write off thousands of dollars in services every year. Can you talk to someone in human services about your potentially disastrous situation? They can set up a payment plan and as long as you send them something... even $20 a month, they can't send it to collections. They might drastically reduce the amount you have to pay in your situation. I'm so sorry you have this to deal with.

I did one color/cut/style yesterday afternoon and for some reason, it left me wrecked. I never got a handle on the pain for the rest of the day. I was counting on feeling better this morning because my Mom is planning to come for a perm/cut/set. I've been up since 4:00 with out of control pain....pills, heat, attitude...nothing is working. Grrrrrrrr...I don't have the time or strength for this crap!

Did I mention that I will have a new tenant moving into my apartment in a couple days? It will be such a help to have some rent money coming in again!

kim, i know what you mean about those afternoon appts. it seems i can't get anything done just waiting to leave, then waiting in the frigid office. hope it goes well with minimal waiting. i was going to suggest just waht cherry said. most hospitals have a financial aid office. hope you get some peace in the next few days.

cherry, i sure hope your pain eases up. i'm so glad you're getting a new tenant. i hope this one is a winner. i tired peanut butter before bed last night and it really helped. minimal cough last night. thanks!

just playing catch up with cleaning myself. everywhere i look, something else to do. postponing errands and trip to post office until tomorrow. too cold and windy.

I don't know how your system works, but it seems to me that if your rich and you can afford treatment for cancer you get to live, and if your poor they wont treat you or operate, they will only do what they can afford? So ......... its in the hands of the gods so to speak? I don't really want to say left to die, cos it sounds so brutal and upsetting. Is that really how it works?
What happens if your child has a serious accident like knocked down by a car? Do they refuse treatment if you cant afford it?
Can you get a loan or sell something or even borrow from a family member?
I hope you get on ok at the doctors : )

I didn't get up until 10, Ive been so tired and so washed out. I hoovered upstairs this morning cos i only managed downstairs yesterday.
I rang work and told them i had conjunctivitis but i was happy to come to work, and did they need to speak to anyone with regards to me working cos it can be contagious, they said no not to come in, kind of glad but wondering if ive been there long enough to get sick pay.

empathy, conjunctivitis is a serious infection, so that may be the reason you're so tired. it's very contagious, so best to stay home and take it easy. i hope you can get sick pay.

the insurance system is pretty messed up here. hospitals do take emergencies, but you get socked with a big bill you have to negotiate. i exhausted all my savings when dx'd with cancer bc i didn't have a job with insurance, then got on medicaid (federal) when that was gone. my doctor and SW were very nice about helping me negotiate the system.

Empathy...staying home from work is exactly the right thing to do! I hope it clears up quickly and you start feeling better.

Serenity...yay for my peanut butter fix! However, if you went out on a cold, windy day, it could take a whole jar of the stuff to keep the tickle away!
