Well my hens....are we fat and sassy this morning all stuffed with ham and dressing from yesterday's big meal? I know I am!! Two big meals was unbearable!!! I hope you all had an enjoyable day. Did Santa bring you what you wanted?
I have a confession to make. This is the first year my dh and I have not exchanged gifts. And it was really hard because I wanted to get him something to open so bad! And it was even hard telling people when they asked: "what did your dh get you for Christmas", to say "nothing". But honestly, I was pretty ok with it ...except.....I thought he would at least get me a card and when he didn't get a card, that's when I became really disappointed.
It was a super busy day yesterday. He spent from the time he got up (8:30) on the computer for a little while and then the kids got up and we started opening presents. And then things never stopped happening around here.
Then late last night at bed time, he hands me a letter that he wrote himself. A Christmas letter! It was better than a card by far!!! And I will cherish it forever:) far better than anything he could have bought me too!!!:)
That short time period he managed to spend on the computer early yesterday morning is when he managed to get it written. He said he tried to find a card and couldn't find one he liked:)
I'm one lucky lady:)
I hope your Christmas was as blessed as I feel mine was.
Wishing you all a restful day and joyful leftovers:)
Hugs

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

That is so romantic. Sounds like he is extra special.
Our xmas was small. Hand written notes with some cash for the kids. Hubby and I skipped gifts for ourselves.
We enjoyed family time, that was the best part.
Happy day after. Wishing all a peaceful day.

Kim...as I was reading the first part and your disappointment in not even getting a card, all I could think was...why didn't he just express himself on a damned piece of paper??? I guess he redeemed himself!
RJ...it's so good to be hearing from you again! Hugs!
I served a big Christmas breakfast for 9 and then went to watch my Grandkids open gifts. I came home and baked a chocolate cake in a bundt pan and decorated it with a white drizzle and crushed peppermint candies. I was supposed to go back to my son's for dinner, but my body was too wrecked from all I had done over the past couple weeks. My parents picked up the cake on their way so at least I made my contribution. Still feeling bad about how much I miss.
Up at 4:30 today, done 2 loads of laundry, a sinkful of dishes, tended to my zoo and built a wood fire...I have a client coming at 1:00 for a color/cut/wax.....groan. I'll enjoy our visit, though!
Wishing everyone a peaceful day of recovery!
Also like RJ and Dixie - no gifts here either! We buy for the kiddos and enjoy watching their delight. Cherry I hope you are letting your body relax and rest today - you had a big day yesterday
I love reading about the Christmas stories from all of you!
We also had many places to go food to cook and our own minds to keep merry.
I myself had about the worst holiday ever. Pain through out my body was over the top and just could not enjoy everything the way that I wanted to!
I put on my happy face but just about everyone saw thought it… even my 6 year old granddaughter.
Resting all day today and hopefully get over this terrible flare up very soon!!!!
Hugs!!
So sorry Cindi. I held out until about 11 pm and then I succummed to a blow on my son's bong. I don't do that but I was pretty bad in the head and a friend of his knew I was in pain and gave me a little bit of weed a few weeks ago. Then last night my son showed me how his bong works incase he was away and I needed it. Stange how life is, isn't it. Sometimes you have to roll with it. I finally slept.
Dix, how absolutley sweet of your husband. I had the same day as most of you. I gave cash to those who needed it, my sister got a scarf and I got balls of wool and instructions (bless my mothers heart). I gave a few gifts but nothing in return and I expected nothing. My mother acted up and her horns came out but I put on my Buddhist mindset and killed her with loving kindness, so there were no casualties.
Last night Jim called up to beg me to come back to him and give him one more try. (how many is that? 2018 tries now?) anyways, it is still no, move on, no I won't have coffee with you, etc...
Today I"m seeing a fellow who I have a bit of a crush on. He is a successful filmmaker and teacher in his industry and a writer and when we get together we talk for hours and he is so positive about everything. And I think he is cute. I suggested we go to the Casino on New Years and he said great. I can't beleive I'm doing the asking but he is everything on my list.
Anyways, later....
My husband and I always exchange cards. I usually make his card. It didn't happen this year because of pain and grandchildren here 24/7 since last Sunday. Their dad is finished with overtime so they are just with us during the day today and tomorrow. They went home with Hume Christmas Eve after our family gathering.
Cindi and Cherry I am sorry you both had pain interfere with your family Christmas. It sure does take away some of the joy.
dixie, that's the sweetest thing!
RJ, i agree, the time with family is the most special!
cherry, i think you could start a bake shop with all your marvelous creations. sorry you were wiped out.
JM, i'm sorry pain interfered with your day.
cindi, sorry the same happened to you. our "happy face" can only go so far.
enigma, how exciting! i hope you have a wonderful NYE.
hippy, wow, i bet you were ready for a rest.
my family's Christmas was very nice. i, too, had to hide out for a bit and get through a flare that just about knocked me over, but the main thing was that everyone was cheerful and dad was in good shape for the most part. wonderful memories. i spent the night with my mother, but she had two appts today, so we didn't get to hang out very long. the family time is by far the most valuable gift.
hope everyone can rest up and take a breather now!
I had an awful day. Don't know why, but blah all day. Too much Christmas I guess.
So tired now, but wanted to wish all a good boxer day.
Off to napa for aniversity tomorrow, hope to sleep well tonight.
Hugs to all.

This year Christmas felt a bit different. Daughter's new husband has a lot of family. Her first was an only child as is my dh so the crowd was a bit smaller back in the day. :-) Some of them I was just meeting for the first time. It was very nice but I missed being with the rest of my family. My brother's opted to go visit Mom in Louisiana.
I am sooo sorry Cindi for your pain, I hope you will feel better sooner than later.
Enigma, you go girl!!! Have a great New Year's Eve!!
Cherry, I don't know how you do it all with your pain.
I'm just wondering why some of my dear hen's don't have NO in the vocabulary. :-)
Love and clucks to all.
