In his acceptance speech, he stated the three things that keep him moving forward are ---- "Someone to Look Up To, Someone To Look Forward To and Someone To Chase." Can you relate to his motivators?

What are your thoughts on this quote? It's the " someone to 'chase' that stumps me. Why would anyone want to chase someone? I see it as " keeping up with the jones's or like chasing a friend or boyfriend.....and why would you chase someone...either they like you or they don't.
My dh says maybe he meant chase as in chasing his idol.

What are your thoughts?

I think it was meant to mean like a goal to reach. He mentioned to be better in ten years and the the ten years came and he wanted to be better in fifteen years.

I took it as meaning we should always have a unattainable goal to reach for.

Matthew can come off as a little cocky but I think he might be the real stuff. Who knows though this is why they call them actors.

i agree that MM doesn't always express himself in the best way. i think in the context he was talking about having a mentor or person in mind whose skills or abilities you want to develop in yourself...or a dog (just kidding). i hope he meant something like that.

He may not have meant "someone to chase" as in a girl but that's the way I took it. I hope he didn't mean it that way as he does have a wife. :-) I can never figure out what the guy is talking about - hopefully his wife does. :-)

Hmmmm not a deep thinker that guy. Has numerous arrests for DUI. Being a celeb doesn't mean you are insightful. To me, chasing someone equates to stalking and insecurity or co-dependance. not healthy thinking.

i dont really know of him, i had to look him up on IMBD, who knows..

My only thoughts were you've got your animals to chase around after, which must keep you fit to a certain degree and that cant be a bad thing.
Plus your sons, you chase them dont you and your husband! The word chase can have different meanings...But the point is it keeps you going.

    It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a  pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...
