I don't seek out the news, if the news comes on i switch over. Your right, it is depressing!
I find its not a good thing for me mentally or emotionally, i mean i don't want to hear about wars in other countries, threats of war and violence, knife killings and gun crime and toddlers and children being abused and killed.

Sometimes i think the media wants us to live in fear, the news should have good news too.

Of course its impossible to stick my head in the sand the whole time, but i give it a good go! lol

I'm with you, Empathy. The big stuff gets leaked out via word of mouth so I see no need to read all the constant negative tidbits from the other media. The media is geared towards sensationalizm to sell and make big $$. I won't support that. I have enough drama in my own family and neighbourhood that I don't need to feel the sadness from a world away. I already feel helpless at the stupidity of it all sometimes.

Last time I watched news on TV I thought it was so silly that one second the newscaster was reporting something horrible and the next second when the topic changed, the newscaster had a smile on her face, like the last topic was of no consequence. Bizzare.

News is depressing!! I usually listen to talk radio and Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh for my news.......as Hubby always has it on.

I do often go and see other programs just to see the other side of the comments. I keep telling Hubby that he needs to see both sides. But I think that is not going to happen. :-)

Enigma, I sooo agree! I hate it when the newscaster's do that. Reporting after something horrible happened and then switching over to a smile. But I think that mostly happens on Network TV news.....which I rarely watch....except for the local weather. :-)
