Good morning hens,
Well, it isn't exactly "mania" here as I am laying here relaxing, listening to Christmas music. I do need to go make a pot of coffee though. We had a nice time at my Stepmother's house last night. It was really nice to see relatives that we generally only see once per year. (Isn't that a shame?) I promised that we would make a trip to her house in the Spring.
Other than wrapping presents this week, while the kids are at school, I really don't have anything on my agenda. Plan on baking Christmas cookies this weekend with the kids when their Christmas vacation starts.
What are your plans for the day (or week)?
Hope everyone has a low pain day.
Hugs,
Carrie

89FToday it is again another hot day but cooler then yesterday. Since this is August it is to be expected in my neck of the woods. All the grass is yellow and flowers are starting to go to seed. I need to water my garden but this time of the year I'm so over it, which is weird because all my plants have their fruit or veggies.Sandra, this time of year reminds me of your Dad and his toms. We'd...

Carrie glad you had a good time, yes it really is a shame we don't get together with family more often.
I was so sick to my stomach all day yesterday, today is not going much better:(
I need to return a movie and wanted to pick up some supplies to make cookies this week, but I don't know if I can....I hate being sick to my stomach!
I've got to get a couple of presents wrapped this week and take my neighbor some home made Christmas candy. I'm ready for Christmas! I'm so
Mad at my kids though.... They are both really good at guessing their presents! Next year I am going to store all the presents at my MIL's and only go get them on Christmas Eve!! Rotten kids:)
Hugs to all
It started snowing yesterday and hasn't stopped! Schools are closed because the bus company insisted. I cancelled the 2 appts. I had for myself this morning, but I'll still go to PT this afternoon since it's right around the corner.
I just finished a batch of peanut butter fudge. I'm hurting my shoulder with all the stirring, but I'm not ready to quit, yet. Date Balls are next.
I might feel more ambitious if I'd slept last night....
Hugs and clucks!
I am so sorry that you are sick. I certainly hope that you feel better soon so that you can finish with your Christmas festivities!
So, did your kids snoop and see any of the presents or did they shake them? I would be really upset if my kids found out what we got them. I keep a really large storage tub in my bedroom with all of their gifts in it. That way, nothing is forgotten. Since the kids don't have any reason to go in our bedroom, it isn't an issue. (they don"t "snoop" anyway).
Like you Dixie, I cannot wait for Christmas! We have fun buying for the kids. Their "big" gift this year is an X-box, however, we had an opportunity to upgrade our exisiting cell phones to brand new smart phones. They (4 of them) are suppose to arrive Christmas eve, so if that is the case, then the kids will get a brand new phone on Christmas day. That will especially please my daughter because she is our "social butterfly". I'll have to admit that I am looking forward to receiving my new phone as well! lol
BTW Dixie, we fooled our son one year for his birthday by putting all of his gifts in "priority mail" boxes that you can get for free from the post office. That way, he couldn't even begin to guess what we got him. Let's face it, the kids KNOW if it is a DVD or a VideoGame by the size of the package, so that was a good way of throwing him off track.
Just a thought for next year.
Hugs,
Carrie
You snuck in on me. We haven't had any snow here yet, however, it sure would be nice to have some for Christmas!
I have never made peanut butter fudge, however, one of my relatives gave us a tin last night full of fudge that she had made and it included peanut butter, which was awesome! She also made fudge with marshmellows and that was really good too. I usually make plain old fudge, but she gave me some ideas on how to mix it up a little.
Don't overdo it with your shoulder. Enjoy your fudge!
Hugs,
Carrie
Carrie your kids sure are going to be happy Christmas morning! Good idea about the post office boxes. I still think I will just take them to MIL's. the kids are just good at guessing... They didn't cheat/ peak:)
Going to post a delicious buttery Caramel popcorn recipe for you hens today and hope you will add you favorite Christmas recipe as well:)
We have always disguised the presents we bought our son when he was little. I'd collect and keep boxes here and there, and put very small things in big boxes or cut out odd shapes with cardboard and sandwich the DVD or X BOX game so it doesn't look like what it is!
Cookies and fudge sounds yummy, you made me want to have a ago myself.
Ive been working in the shop this morning and had a go on the till! I think ive got the hang of it....!

I will admit I used to unwrap my gifts to see what they were and wrap them back up. Oh what disappointment on Christmas morning. Of course this was after the Santa days. My youngest would shake and I suspect fiddle wit the wrapping. Carrie I like the boxes from the post office. One year we wrapped clues in different sized boxes made made the boys go on a hunt for their gift. We have also taken pictures of the gift and wrapped the picture in a large box to throw them off. Much like your ideas Empathy.
We leave New Orleans tomorrow. On Thursday early morning I am scheduled for a cervical epidural steroid injection.. I am still on the fence a bit. The last one was a disaster. The doctor hit a nerve root. This was back in early summer. I am scheduled with a different doctor at a different place but still not feeling 100% on it. I have met my deductible for the year so if I am going to do it I need to do it. Sometime I feel so hopeless about my neck. Guess I can join the crowd on chronic pain in our life. Mine never ends. I just keep going and it is hard to enjoy life.
Best of luck, hippy
You go! Empathy. Count the pennies
Your place sounds like fun, Carrie
Oh, Dixie, so sorry to hear you are so sick.
I'm stressing out pretty bad and got into it with one person already for throwing a wrench into my system and then taking off. Fiscal inventory next week and I'm already booked into overtime for an impossible task and deadline. My Christmas dinner went from 4 people to suddenly 11, next Sunday, and my anxiety is creeping up. I think I may have to sedate myself this year.
6 days to find all the problems that I didn't know existed, and then to fix them in a system that doesn't work, while Auditors and head officer ask why. Then cook dinner for a family that may be the enemy again. Lord, give me strength.
Hippy I will be praying the the epidural goes well and it helps with the pain. You sound frustrated, I'm so sorry, the pain really does get us down doesn't it? Hugs and much love!
Enigma take a deep breath girl ....what comes comes and you can do anything about it by stressing....I know,,, easy for me to say huh? Sorry things are so stressful for you right now but I'm sure it will all go well...your super woman in my book :)
