I was thinking.........cornflour? And then I see it is cornstarch. Thought I missed something new. :-)

We do use Masa to thicken things also.

Here is my fun and tasty barbecue sauce. It's even better if you keep the whiskey bottle open and sample as you go!

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp corriander
2 tsp mustard seed
4 tsp chipotle seasoning
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp paprika
1 cup whiskey
1.5 tsp onion powder
1/2 cup molasses (or sorghum)
8 cups of tomato sauce

I just throw everything in there, stir, and boil gently for about 10 minutes. Then, I reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. When I am making things in the crock pot, I mix it together in there then add my meat and turn it on. The longer it has the chance to stand, the more the flavors will come out. A little tomato paste will thicken it up. One of our favorite things to make with this is a type of goulasch. We get stew meat and cook it in the BBQ sauce. Then, we serve the whole thing with sliced green peppers over mashed potatoes.


And, my corn pudding. (Or corn casserole, depending on what you want to call it.)

CORN PUDDING

pre-heat oven to 400 (F).

ingredients:

5 eggs

1/3 cup butter

1/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup milk

4 tablespoons cornstarch

1 can whole kernel corn

2 cans cream-style corn

Mix it all together and bake it for an hour. Even my kids like this.

Vodka & Red Bull Christmas Cake

Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
flour
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
nuts
1 bottle Vodka
1 can of red bull
2 cups of dried fruit

Method:
Sample the vodka to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the vodka again. To be sure it is the highest quality, pour one level cup and mix with a little red bull & drink. Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large, fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.

At this point it’s best to make sure the vodka is shtill OK. Flavour with red bull to taste. Try another cup…. just in case turn off the mixerer.

Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuckin the cup of dried fruit.

Pick fruit off floor.

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers pry it loose with a screwscriver.

Sample the vodka to check for tonsisticity - flavour with a little Bed Rull.

Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something.

Throw a pinch of Bed Rull over your shoulder.

Pick up the can, mop the floor.

Check the vodka.

Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or whatever you can find.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don’t forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the vodka and fall into bed.
