Hey Hens,
Well I took a vote between my dh and two youngest boys to see if they wanted me to cook a Christmas dinner. All three voted yes so looks like I am cooking. Honestly I am not looking forward to it. I don't know that I'm up to it. But I will try for them. So on the menu is:
Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, green beans, baked corn cassarole, sweet potato cassarole, home made egg noodles, turnip greens, deviled eggs, baked apples, home made yeast rolls, and pecan pie.....whew!!! Well this momma might make everyone's favorites but I'm smarter than I use to be....some of this stuff is going to be made the day before!!!!
So what do you cook for Christmas? Are you cooking a big dinner? Do you go somewhere else for Christmas dinner?
I would be all for going to a restaurant for a Christmas get together. I actually think it's pretty smart.
I'm kind of flattered that my boys want me to cook but it sure is going to be hard on me and for that reason I'm dreading it. My dh will help me when I need him to but he aggrevates me so much when he is in the kitchen because he wants to constantly taste test everything and it drives me batty!!! I just want to shout "stay out of the food!".
Now,.....how many of you treat your pets with a special dinner too? Lol, I confess I do! Jill will get a plate of her very own and the cats get a can of fish and shrimp. ( they usually only have hard catfood).
It will be my 3 boys, my mom, MIL, ex-DIL and her boyfriend, my granddaughter, my youngest sons gf, dh and myself.11 people total. Nice little party:) how big is your family?
Then on Christmas day my dh's family all get together at his mom's house and there are too many to count!!
And then my SIL always has us up to her house for a Christmas dinner with her family.
So 3 Christmas dinners! I hope Weight Watchers has a special come Jan. 1st cause I'm going to need it!!!:)

Well last year just me, hubby,mum and dad as my son and his gf wanted to do their own little christmas together which was sweet.
This year they are coming to us, so there will be 6, plus 2 cats and a dog!
I'm doing a leg of Lamb (beef for gf) Mash, Brussels, Peas, Parsnips.
Dessert.. i will just buy something, i might make a chocolate log.
There is just so much to eat no one is going to go hungry.
Ive learnt... keep it simple. You can feel so pressured to please everyone and all their different tastes it stops you enjoying time with family.
My dad used to drive me mad with his criticism, like he would make a comment about the roast potatoes not being crispy. Honestly shouldn't he just think how lucky he is that his daughter has cooked him a dinner?
He's stopped doing it as much and i think if you dont like it dont eat it!
Boxing day my hubby always has cold Pork, mash and Brussels in memory of his mum.
I'm not a lover of mixing cold food with hot and im not a lover of pork either, everyone moans about "turkey for christmas dinner", so i'm doing that for me and whoever else wants it boxing day! Not forgetting there will be left over lamb and beef for those that dont.
My sister will pop in at some point boxing day i expect.
I'm surprised Americans dont get fed up with turkey as you have it for thanksgiving which is so close.
No lol, i dont do specials for cats and dogs.
On a chat show the other day they were discussing a mum who charges everyone who comes to eat Christmas dinner at her house £30 a head.
Me and hubby have thought in the future we might go away to a hotel at the seaside for christmas : )
Depends on if we have grandchildren and whether we are invited there or they come here lol
I have spent a lot tho. I have the meats already and i have pringles, and biscuits and snacks galore.
Dixie you might need to come and go on my running machine im getting after Christmas, I want to get healthy : )

Going to the seaside would be a dream but those grandkids have a strong draw let me tell you!!!
I'm not a big pork fan either. As for turkey the only time we have it is thanksgiving. If my son wasn't getting one from work I would have ham instead but his work gives him a big box of food with a turkey. The box includes everything you could possibly want to fix for Christmas dinner....even eggs lol very generous of the company!
