I'm asking the question again. Where are all the people that are/were on the front lines of this thing? Why do they not come together for some kind of support. In my husband's industry (construction,) the damage was extensive. Our nightmare began six years ago and isn't over yet. We will never be the same.

Where is the other victims?

I think most ppl hide their financial woes behind a smiling face and a closed mouth. However, I know a number of ppl and hear all the time of job loss, struggles to keep a house, and complaints from my friends that they had to yet give their kids another "loan". I think many ppl do have well to do parents who are helping them. Of course they will not talk about that to strangers or even to many friends for that matter. But I see many houses for sale and heard of a couple of suicides (one in a very upscale NH not far from me, it was a foreclosure etc)....Please don't do anything like that! My ODS had a good job in the building trades and that is gone for him too, he works in restaurants. I am sorry that this happened to you ... DC

i agree i see no support in this depression. all i see is people are blaming each other for their misfortunes and there may be some people who are truly doing well but that isn't the norm anymore. its really sad how ppl are treating each other right now

I hear you!Everywhere I search online for even a clue to work everyone is saying the same thing "Oh God it's So Bad"But,I have yet to find a group,organization or anything coming together providing comprehensive support for the unemployed.There are plenty of scams out there which is a sad testimony to some folks ingenuity.I can only tell you to look for your local resources such as food stamps,career counseling centers etc.Unfortunately there really isn't anything.....

gov agencies like workforce connections, one stop career centers, etc are not helpful at all as they dont have any answers themselves. i have food stamps does nothing for me it used to be ppl on welfare got the jobs 1st not anymore lol.

i wanna go to this women's foundation, they have workshops id like to do for my cause and they have a free mentor program which id like to speak too.

did you all hear what romney said? obama supporters are lazy, no good to society, and dont wanna work! oh the media is gonna make it worse and people out there in the streets too because those who are looking for a job and are really trying are gonna use that against us!

those kinds of comments are just bringing in more division and separation towards each other tearing each other down too in the process even further. i couldn't believe what the fool said today!

I hear this all the time and I'd like to know the percentage of people who "don't want to work" versus the percentage of people who are desperately trying to find work but can't .

I am here.. Sole provider for a family of 4, plus a dog and 2 cats. Use to work 2-3 jobs to manage bills. Had to quit my second job last year, after my husband got diagnosed with liver problem. And even thou I am in a medical field, I cannot find a second job. There is like almost 100 applicants for one open position. And requirements are higher. With this economy can't get credit card or a loan. And I don't know what they saying there is so many programs helping homeowners? My bank send me foreclosure notice after only 2 and a half month of being past due. Utilities are higher and if I want to get help from outside organizations to pay my utility bill, I have to get on a month long waiting list. Honestly, I think people just getting adopted to the economic changes and keep quite about it. And it really irritates me when news announcing economy is not in reccession anymore and we get less and less unemployed people. I am not even talking about taxes. I used to be a middle class. Yes I did have gambling problem and lost a lot of my money, but even now with one job, increased cost of living, increased insurance premiums, increased taxes I can barely get from paycheck to paycheck. And not talking about improved quality of life or ability to have any savings. Thanks, Vicky.

interesting, i do hear people living paycheck to paycheck not talking about them trying to live like rich people. my mom said if they stop being in debt and trying to be rich, they wouldn't have to live off of paycheck to paycheck.

i looked at her saying do u know what that even means? she said being in debt always needing to be like the rich and she is one to talk. she hasn't held a real job in over 30 yrs for dumbass reasons. right now, it is paycheck to paycheck trying to stay afloat in this depression.

My husband is in construction too 4many and he lost his job 6 years ago...they were the "canary in the coal mines"....they lead the recession....everyone else figured it out and became affected about 18 months later...

I am very interested in politics and I watch the markets...it's interesting to me...I remember watching CNBC...the financial channel...it was about 15 months into him loosing his job...I watched grocery prices going up, my neighbors and friends were starting to loose work...and they kept denying there was a problem on this show.....it pissed me off....I was actually yelling at the tv!

I saw the country crashing...

I got so angry...I actually called them up! I've never called a program or radio station like that in my life...I went on an absolute tirade...

A few months later....crash....it's been a nightmare...and, those of us in construction (non union) have felt it the most and the longest....I feel for you...my husband is doing odd jobs now...we have 2 kids...and it's bad....we don't accept government help (no judgments whatsoever) so...we've been eating Ramen and...sometimes...I don't even want to say...I never thought I'd see the day when hunger would be an issue...

I should reach out more to people for help because it's out there...church, food banks etc...but I haven't...I'm trying to figure it out too...but, I guess I'm posting this to let you know there are many out here struggling too....hang in there...as will I...thanks for your post...it helped me because I think I've been "stuck"....and...I have to get "unstuck"...

yep generosity is a two way street just like respect, love, caring, understanding someone, etc. this whole country has always been one sided about everything
