The Financial Crisis Support Group
This community is dedicated to discussing the financial crisis of 2007-2008, which has had a worldwide impact on wealth, jobs and personal security. Our hope is that this community will focus on positive thoughts, real advice for adjusting your expenses and investments based on these changes, and support for one another as we go through this painful period.
While looking at the recovery of the last one you see that the recovery was spurred by the governments willingness to commit to the developement in resources and infrastructure.
It is that very exploitation of resources and the common standards of our infrastructure that won wars and put down the cold war.
It takes "beans, boots and bullets" to win a war and it is a unified infrastructure (power grid, highways, telephone, etc.) that delivers them.
Before the depression there were different power generation and distribution schemes. No two states built a highway to the same standards. Since the great depression all inter-state highways have the exact same specificaiton and the power is the same. It took the phone companies a little longer to agree on common standards.
Since that has already been done once, we need to look to the otherside of this one to see what it will take to create the huge push to recovery. Right now the government elect is pushing towards nationalism and socialism and the redistribution of wealth as a means of recovery. I don't know about you but that sound scary to me. Other countries are looking at that proposed path and are saying that it the US goes down that road it will cease to be a major power in the world! You think having stuff made in China is a headache now just wait, when everything you touch is made somewhere else.
You talk about now no oversite or regulation, those two words are about to be museum artifacts.
