This community is dedicated to discussing the financial crisis of 2007-2008, which has had a worldwide impact on wealth, jobs and personal security. Our hope is that this community will focus on positive thoughts, real advice for adjusting your expenses and investments based on these changes, and support for one another as we go through this painful period.
Buy less expensive stuff at discount stores. Accept food and clothes and other gifts from family without even trying to pretend things are just fine.
I have my 9 to 9 electric meter which helps me save money for my electricity. Found out through a neighbor, and it cost nothing to switch meters and I do most of my laundry on the weekends or after 9PM at night.
food prices. Lots of rice and beans OR Rice
and frozen veggies. Lots of oatmeal. No meat;
little produce (except frozen on sale). I have
never had the luxury of having a cell phone.
Have thought about disconnecting my land line
and getting a "pay as you go" phone for emergencies. My auto gas budget is still $20.
per month; which means I am home most of the
time. Fixed income does not stretch to cover
increase in gas and food prices. I have done
away with every single unnecessary item I can
think of. In the process of making cloth
napkins so I never have to buy another paper towel or napkins again.
