I think it will take time...we will recover! Just tighten up this holiday season..and next year it will be much better. Thats how I see it now. Homemade candy, cookies and a "Merry Christmas" might be all you get from me!

It is important to remember here that history always repeats itself and we always do bounce back. ALWAYS. The best way I know to cope is to just keep our heads above water until this turns around.
Remeber also that these huge coperations do employ a lot of people but remember that small business is what moves the economy more than any other entity. When the Mom and Pop shops start going belly up on a global level THEN is the time to panic.

I deal with precious metals. Silver was down again yesterday. I deal with a company called "Monex" you can google them for quotes.
Silver is down to just over $11.00 per troy ounce. When it drops below the 11 mark I'm going to convert my stash from paper to silver.
Last time I bought at $8.50 and sold one year later at 19 and change.
Even if it all falls down you can spend metal and wipe with paper.

Excellent idea the way the government in Canada is structured I cant do that I'm holding essential equivalent to your treasury bills I am troubled by it but there's nothing I can do my wife has taken a real hit but she is guaranteed a monthly payment she has an annuity in Switzerland I should be OK unless the banks and insurance companies collapse.

The banks in Canada are structured differently than their American counterparts they basic asset allocation is in Companies American banks leverage money against money using individual debt as the guarantee I believe the markets will recover but it is going to take years.

I think lots of people are in the same situation so at least you are not alone

Me and my hubby have been so scared we have a piggy bank with no exit hole. We have been putting any large bills only in there. That we can spare. I'm afraid to not have any money and so is he. We have cut back on everything. I slowed my Internet down and lost about a 100 channels on cable and don't even miss it. We use coupons when we can. It is so hard to save money but we are forcing ourselves too. I don't trust the banks. We don't own credits cards. I had one and when I made a 20 dollar purchase and it ended up being 600 dollars when I didn't pay it. I was like never again no way Jose.
