Tuesday about 2 p.m. I found my husband not breathing on our patio. He had been working in the yard right before.
I tried to give him CPR and chest compressions, and when the paramedics arrived they said it was too late to revive him. He was 68 and in pretty darn good health.
I am broken and frozen. So surprising to everyone who knew him.
He loved our life in our retirement home, each and every day. He only had three and a half years here, and I so wish it was more.
Please keep me in your thoughts. I hardly know how to go on.
Oh Mystic I am so very sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences. You are in my thoughts and I wish I was there to help wipe away your tears. Please take care of yourself as best you can right now. Lean on those who will help you through this. May your DH rest in peace. Bear hugs to you. So very sorry.
Mystic, I am so sorry for your loss. It's devastating and a hard one to get through. I lost my first husband to cancer so I know how it is hard to go through the grieving process. Kind Thoughs and Hugs,
Debbie
Mystic, so sorry to hear of your husbands passing. Please know you are in my prayers and I send you energy and positivity to help you though these hard days. I hear your spirit in your post, you are strong and wise. Take special care of yourself. I will light a candle tonight for you and your husband. Peace Dear Lady.
I will check in here more often so send up a flare and let us know how you're doing. We old-timers are still around, and here for you.
Thank you ArmyMom. We've all been through a lot but wow, this one I'm hard pressed to figure out each day.
I am filled up when I speak to friends. I try to do things like walk every day. Trying to get my concentration back in order to read my favorite books and watch some TV. I'm hoping that time will bring me back to myself a tiny bit each week. When something like this happens, you don't just lose your spouse/partner/friend but you also lose life as you know it.
Meeting with a grief counselor Monday who might give me some good pointers, and then recommend a grief support group in my area.
Old timers and new friends on the Widow support group are very comforting.
Hi Mystic....how did the counseling work out? It's so important to have a "connection" to get the most out of sessions. I personally prefer group therapy, so I was glad to hear you were looking into it.
We are currently in the taking our lives apart, by choice, and putting it back together again. The FOR SALE sign went up in the front yard yesterday......after 18 years here its surprisingly easy to let go of what was, and embrace the what will be.....We do get to CHOOSE what we put energy into!
Take your time, grieving is healing. You're a survivor Mystic....strong and capable.....Hugs and lots of cyber support from Oklahoma!
I too, have not been on here much this past few months and more.. so this condolence is very late.
How very sorry to hear such a sudden passing of your husband. It must have been a shock and surreal all at once.
So many years and a life bonded is very hard when things end in such ways (or in any way). May he be in a haven of peace watching over you...may you find solace and purpose although he has parted earth.
All people go through grief, mourning and adapting to life without the loved one in different ways and time phases. It surely seems you have been wise to find support systems. So many have already had good words ...
It takes time and life alters...may you gain strength as you journey through this phase of loss.
Blessings.
Mystic
Thinking of you ... and sending a huge cyber hug ... I know you must be hurting ...
