It is Thursday. I would like to first say something to reply to yesterday's last two posts (two replies to the last post).
Toni - Happy for you for the no more leaky roof. I got a call from the city lady this morning asking me to go in to sign the paperwork for the demolition of our garage in the backyard. We are getting help from the city to pay for tearing down the garage that has a collapsing roof and is beyond repair. The garage has been sitting there for years with nothing inside it except a few junks that the previous owner left behind when we first bought the house. It is a small garage but two small cars can fit in. I am going to miss not seeing that triangle shape wall that goes up above one of the two doors when I pull the car into the driveway. I was told old people feel attached to their houses because of the memories they have. I used to park two cars inside this garage until some trees grew to block the entrance (one of the two garage's doors). We have trees everywhere. Our backyard looks like a wooded area, a perfect place for feral cats. It is strange to feel it is not going to be the same without that garage. To rebuild one is out of the question. Anyway, this is my long story about the soon-to-disappear garage.
Serenity - My memories of my life in Thailand are a mixture of good and horrible ones. One of the good memories is I had a lot of friends in schools. Some of them are on facebook but I don't talk to them often since (because) I left Thailand when I was 25 and never went back. My friends don't understand life in America. They just feel it is a better place to live especially because of the covid. Thailand has a population of about 65 million and the size of California. People used to be happy and nice there, then a lot of countries went in to put their factories and brought with them different ways of life. Schools removed "moral rules" and "good citizenship" subjects from their curriculums which is a very bad idea. I lost touch with my Thai friends for many years until they started to get on facebook. I couldn't speak Thai fluently for a long period of because there are very few Thai people where live. I had more Thai friends in California. Then the Thai dramas (soaps) started to show up on youtube as well as Thailand news. I relearned how to speak better Thai by watching the Thai soaps. Whether I want to go back to visit Thailand, my quick answer is "no." Here comes the part about my bad memories which I will save for later.
By the way, on my way back from going in to sign the papers in the city this morning, I stopped at Burger King to get some croissant breakfast sandwiches. Had not had those for a while. They were good. My whole body is aching right now from going out to drag in some packages from amazon.com last night without wearing a jacket. I am glad my daughter called to cancel her appointment to pick up the sleep apnea machine so I don't have to drive her to the place and can try to "take a shower and wash hair" today that I have put off for too long. I will have to take some naps first.
I hope everyone has a good day today.

According to His riches in glory refers to a biblical promise found in Philippians 4:19, which states that God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This verse emphasizes God's provision and generosity towards believers.

My leaky roof that got fixed was my house. I also have a very tired garage. I wish my city would tear it down, more so fix it. I just really need a small shed to keep my things in. The person that put it up used the we materials, though the frame is great and it has a concrete floor.
I think you belong right where you are,you sound happiest there. Thai does have a reputation of being strict on it's people.
Then about three months ago, the whole roof collapsed, and a contractor told me it is not repairable and not worth it to repair. The four walls of the garage building are still standing up but some angry gophers tore off one part of the walls which still looks repairable. This garage helps block people who may try to come through the backyard at the alley. We will have a wooden fence to replace that part after the garage is torn down.
Thailand law forbids people from insulting the monarchy and put them in jail for it. The country was known for its hospitality and friendliness and was referred to as "The land of smiles." The king before the present one was born in the U.S. and grew up in England and became King of Thailand when he was only seventeen. He was a good king.
My reason for not wanting to live in Thailand is a personal one that has nothing to do with the rules or laws of the country. It is a long story and heavy. I felt I was going to end up taking my own life if I continued to live there. I told my American Christian friends about my depression, and I was a student at a Bible college at the time. I told them I lost my good relationship with my father because of my faith and that I had nothing to live for as a human being. I was totally messed up mentally and physically. I guess some of them heard me. One Catholic lady among the American Christian friends told me her younger brother committed suicide. She and her dad lost touch with the brother for four years and was one day informed by her uncle that the brother had died. The lady sent me cards with Bible verses in them and wrote me letters and prayed for me. My life has not been easy after I came to the U.S. but I am very old now. I feel like I went through many wars, and I am still "alive." I would be a content and completely thankful person if it were not because my daughter, who is 36 years old and our only child, has not learned how to live independently. She is an innocent soul if you know what I mean. Nothing is more painful than picturing your child not making it to survive after you are gone. Because of that, I want to continue to be alive for as long as I can so I will have more time to help her prepare for her future without us. I hope this does not sound too depressing. I feel there is at least one person in this group who can relate to me about my concern about my daughter's future. Please forgive me for this gloomy story.
