Good morning Circle!
It's a snow day here with 10-15 cm today and another 5-10 tonight. We have my son's step-kids today as there is no school. It isn't cold (0C) and the snow hasn't started yet so it's actually pretty nice outside. The picture above is one I took on a ride on the scooter last fall. I'm dreaming of spring and can't wait to get out on the scooter again.
All of our pipes are finally fixed! We still don't have hot water but the element we need should be arriving today from Amazon. I went and picked one up at a local hardware store but Drew was shocked at the price they charge. Also, they sort of took advantage of me, as a woman. The salesman pulled an element off the shelf and said that is what we need. I asked about copper as that is what Drew wanted and he said they don't carry them anymore. hmmmm? The website shows they do carry them and they're are 2 in stock but I didn't know that at the time. The one he sold me cost almost $20 more than the one Drew wanted. I also asked for the wrench for removing the element. They had one but it cost over $22 and every other store we searched online had them for around $16, at Amazon they were less than $13. What we ordered online for less than $50 cost me over $80 at the store. I'm returning them today and won't be shopping there again.
Toni I'm glad to hear your results came back no worse. I love that your tree is still striving to stay alive. I saw a picture once of a tree that fell over and kept growing. It eventually twisted to grow straight up again - I wonder if your tree will do that. As for cane vs walker, I do use a walker at home in the house. We don't have a ramp so it's really awkward to take it out with me. Around the yard I use 2 canes as I never know which knee, ankle or hip will go out on me when I'm walking. I only walk with one cane if I'm going to a store or visiting away from home. At stores I always use a shopping cart for support even If I'm just going in for one thing.
Joanne I hope things go well for you with your med reduction. I always dread weaning off any med as there is usually some kind of side effects. I envy you rearranging your furniture and decorating your home. We thought about moving things around in the living room here but there really isn't anywhere else things will fit. It's been the same arrangement for decades apparently. Also every room of this house is wallpapered and I can't strip it or put up new so it will stay.
Serenity it's so good to hear you are sleeping well on your new bed. A good night's sleep can make all the difference in your day. Good luck with all your unpacking and arranging.
Carly I can imagine it must be heartbreaking to even think about giving up your ranch after so many years of getting it just how you want. At the same time I understand how hard it is being far away from your family and all the services you need or may need. Hopefully you'll find just what you need one day soon so you can be closer to everything.
All this talk of losing weight is good. I'm supposed to be losing 50-100 lbs so I can have back surgery. So far I don't think I've lost anything. I agree that portion size is a big part of it and I know I need to be more active. It's not easy but I am trying. Though until I have a family doctor again I won't have anyone to refer me for the surgery so I have time. It can take years to get a new family physician around here. There is a terrible shortage.
I better go get some things done. My sink is full of dishes and hot water just waiting for me. Since I have to heat the water on the stove I hate to waste it by letting it go cold. Hope you all are having a good day. Take care.
Hugs, Nonie

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

Me too, I can't wait for spring either, although we have been very lucky with the weather where we are this February.
Your experience of getting taken advantage of because you are a woman isn't unfortunately that uncommon. That usually happens when you take a car in for repair.
Still, I'm glad you've got everything fixed.
I'm shattered after work so I'm just chilling :-)
Nonie-If your wallpaper is securely attached it can be painted. I did that in our last house and I used a flat so as not to have a sheen and it looked really good. Good luck on your weight loss to for the eventual back surgery. That's another reason my neighbor decided to lose the 120 so he could have hip surgery so he could sit on a scooter and not always be in the wheelchair. It worked and navigation on the river boardwalk is so much easier.
Sandra-you've really dodged the bad weather many of us have experienced. I think we are all waiting for Spring.
That's horrendous any woman was taken advantage of when buying something for the house or getting the car repaired.
On our way to shopping.
PEACE
Having a mellow February isn't the same as warm spring Sandra, I'm with you get here already! Usually we're all pacing by now. I like it hot, call me weird! It just feels good to my body. Sorry work was hard on you, wish I could send you for a massage by the sea!
Moonie your neighbor must have had worn down bones in his hip. I'm foggy headed and can't even think of the name! I joined a hip room when I got home and some of the people's journey were amazing! They were determined to get better at all costs and enjoy themselves afterwards. One woman visited several lighthouses in here area and climbed all the stairs. She put up a video of her running on a treadmill. These things are very much not recommended, but she spurred others recovery. She had been confined for too long.
I need to move it. I still need to get in the shower.
Have a great day
Good to hear that your pipes are finally fixed as it must be such a relief but hot water if definitely something to be missed. And what a jerk you had to deal with at the store. But so good that Amazon had what you needed. I have found that they usually do and so much cheaper.
After I broke my leg the walker was what I had to do and it was a pain to try and maneuver around the house. I scarred very many door openings.
I hope that you will be careful but I am sure you know which mode of "transportation" is best for you. :-)
I pray for you that you will be able to achieve your goal to get the back surgery.
Serenity, so sorry to hear that your are tossing and turning even with that new bed. But I can see how it has nothing to do with the bed. I so hope that you and Mom can work it out.
As Mike always used to say about his mom....she is just such a hard case.
Toni, not thinking you are weird at all. I so much prefer hot rather than cold.
And yes I think that most builder's have gone to PVC pipes.
I have been trying to catch up as it seems like anything tech is alluding me.
I was on the phone with X-finity last night for over an hour. So many problems and the biggest problem was not being able to talk to a real person but I finally got someone. And please don't get ya'lls panties in a bunch when I say that it took twice as long as it should have because I could not understand a word she was saying.
Why can't a major company have people for teck customer support speak better English? Maybe it is just me but I really don't think so. She was such a nice lady but I understood about half of what she said.
I think I need to call it a night.
Sending much love and hugs to all.
xoxo
