The Breakfast Club Community Group
A place where we can "do life" together, or at least talk about it. You won't be told "that is off topic" here. Share experiences, get advice, be silly, be sad, be supportive. (Try to say: share, silly, sad, supportive, 20 times without slobbering, if not, you are in! lol either way your "in") Let's just be whatever we are at the moment, and be "in" touch with...

It seems quiet in here lately. The weather is warming up and up in Florida and I'm trying to feel thankful it's not yet over 90 degrees during the day. We had a nice Easter - my son came over to help me cook for the family. Men seem to enjoy carving a roast. We were butterflying a pork loin for the first time. I just love Chef John's videos (Food Wishes). I don't normally eat pork products but for special occasions, we got one because everyone seems to enjoy.
If you love to learn or get moral support on cooking ideas, I just love catching a video on "Foodwishes.com" - Chef John, to me, is so funny! The only recipe I've had trouble with is trying to perfect English Muffins. I think it was my stove element burning out though as they soaked up too much clarified butter. Next time, I'll get out the griddle. :)
Another fall resulted in hitting my head on a dresser in my room. At first I thought I broke my nose because it hurt so much but I ended up with a slash in my forehead above the brow. A good friend is a retired RN and coached me through the injury, making sure I stayed awake for a bit afterward. So, I didn't show the doctor's office until yesterday when I had some new issues to discuss. X-rays are happening this week, on my face and also my ribs.
Two things I've learned the very hard way recently. Never lean into the washing machine (problem of being short) as I have experienced rib pain ever since I heard it either cracking or adjusting. Also never use a heating pad (drug store hot/cold) directly on the skin. I have burned the skin on my abdomen. Geesh, I feel like a walking disaster lately. Yikes, I need to stop that! Thanks to a very good listener in the physician's assistant, I am able to schedule physical therapy and occupational therapy this week as well. Counting my blessings. Would love to hear how everyone is doing!

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Gustokitty, it just seems like it's one thing after another when not feeling feel to begin with. My general practitioner didn't think I had a thyroid problem although I had previously been treated for it. Finally I went to see an endocrinologist. He said, yes I do have a thyroid problem and I will begin to feel much better when I'm back on the medication. I believe that. Hope all is well with you!!
Nice chatting with you both!!
Johnnycake, it's good to move around but I have to remember to keep the walker very close in case the legs want to fail me. Oy! I never dreamed I'd have such issues, did you?
