Was all record of Molly's ultrasound at the vet's office destroyed? Yes it was a really sophisticated machine that could separate Molly's DNA from the other DNA? She said she used it as a kid? I guess it shouldn't be surprising considering all the advanced technology they have such as what they do with the trash, Julie's hover craft in the shower and her bionic legs, etc..

Maybe the spores infected Molly's brain so so she saw Marcus because the aliens knew she would be more comfortable with him. I wish they had showed exactly what took place internally inside Molly when she was impregnated! I don't know how ISEA knew that she was carrying an alien child and why did they take it from her? Is it because they wanted to cover it up? Maybe they were shocked because they though the baby would look more alien? The baby's a hybrid though.

Yes, Julie definitely cares more about Ethan than Molly. I don't understand why they didn't realize that they had given Ethan's system a powerful electric shock that caused him to short circuit? I thought at one point Molly said Ethan was a lure. I wonder if Ethan will remember what happened? Probably not since he was rebooted unless his memories are stored where they can retrieve them.

I think when Sparks sent his lackey to follow where Molly had been and traced her and Sam to the vet's office and found the ultrasound he probably took whatever records were there. Surely they would've covered their tracks with that - I didn't get why Sam and Molly weren't smart enough to remove any trace of the ultrasound themselves in the first place, but I can't imagine Sparks and the rest of the ISEA people wouldn't be certain to remove any trace of that baby's existence that they were aware of. The only way Molly was even able to prove to John she wasn't hallucinating it the whole time was that bloody towel and that's only because the ISEA didn't know about it or think to confiscate it at least. I still don't get though how the baby's DNA could be retrieved through her blood - I figured she would merely be able to prove it because of hormone levels or something to that effect...

I wish the show gave a clearer idea of when in the future this show is taking place (or did they and I just missed it?) because some things seem not all that advanced from where we are now while other things are far beyond our current capabilities so it'd be nice to know just how far into the future they're setting this just for the sake of getting a better understanding of the whole situation.

I would assume that since Molly didn't see the spores but believed she was seeing Marcus and the video cameras caught nothing to the naked eye (with those spores only being visible with that filter) that whatever the spores came from perhaps since they did seem to envelop her it meant they did invade her brain too - it would explain why she and the other astronaut both had changes show up on their brain scans and the hallucinations that have followed since she's returned could mean they are still in there too. But you would think any of those spores still in her would've fought to keep the baby from being removed from her - like that circular pattern popping out of her stomach every time she seemed to be in danger. Surely if it's using her as an incubator or host or something it wouldn't have allowed the baby to be removed from her so easily... or does that thinking just go against whatever their storyline dictated so they just figured it worked better to allow the baby to be removed and went with that?

I think the ISEA folks realized there was something not right with her in general and had wanted a full report on her physical and mental state upon her return because the last guy went a bit crazy and they didn't really seem to know why (or at least weren't telling). They suspected something was going on when Sam delayed telling them her results, then they started snooping on her until they learned she was pregnant. Logic would've dictated to them it was impossible she was that far along in a regular pregnancy when she was in space for over a year alone plus they suspected something happened to her up there because the video feed was partially deleted. My guess is that the company has far more knowledge of these alien spores than they are letting on; it's possible they even chose to send a woman who was known to have had fertility issues specifically to see what may occur.

I think Molly did say something about Ethan being a lure and yet they still didn't seem to think someone intentionally shut him down at the core. Ethan didn't seem to indicate any knowledge of what happened to him when he did wake up but something tells me he's going to not be quite the same kid he was before as a result of the whole matter. Perhaps they will figure out how to retrieve his memories some how, but I'm not sure there's much his memory will help them figure out at this point other than to prove he was taken and left in that field to lure Molly rather than that he ran away and "got hurt" and shut himself down.

You're right that ISEA would remove any trace that Molly had ever been pregnant. I think that ISEA wanted people to think Molly was crazy so no one would believe anything she said. They had John convinced for a while that Molly was crazy until he saw the results of the DNA tests. I think you're right that ISEA would have known about the spores because of what happened to the other astronaut. Molly was sent not only for her plant studies but also because she was a woman. They wanted to see what the spores would do to a woman.

As for the time period I was wondering that too. I read an article that said this:" We've always kind of thought of it as 20 to 30 years out — in the classic term of the genre, the not-too-distant future. But we didn't put a specific date in because we wanted to give ourselves a bit of creative freedom and conjure up new things, but also look at where technology might evolve to at that point. But not tie ourselves up, so that people can hopefully just focus on the characters and the story, and not try to pull it apart."

I don't understand why the spores didn't prevent ISEA from taking the baby. Maybe Molly being under anesthesia made the spores weaker? Any other time that they circles showed up Molly was awake.

I agree that Ethan's memory wouldn't have much about what happened to him. I think he will be different than he was before. We have no idea what he was like when John first brought him into their home. He does learn by experience after all.

I think it may have been a mistake on their part, not giving a more specific sense of the timeline - I mean, we all know that shows and films can give a specific date in the future and make assumptions on the advances we will have made and they don't always come true (I mean, according to "Back To The Future Part 2" we should be driving hover-vehicles on skyways by next year... and have shoes with power laces and clothes that dry themselves and the Cubs are supposed to win a World Series - pretty sure we will have none of that in less than a year's time but at least they committed to a timeframe!) so it's not like it doesn't give "flexibility" when you suggest the actual year something is supposedly happening. If they just said to the viewers up front this is 30 years in the future or 50 years in the future or 100 years... whatever... they could tell us it's an alternate universe even, just commit to something at least. It would make it just a little easier to understand why we're so advanced technologically that our computerized home can fill in as a babysitter for our humanic robot children and our cars can drive themselves but we're still not well versed on what's happening in outer space even though we are allowing private companies to do research on it... I kind of want to know when this supposed future is so I can understand how we're advanced in one way but not so much in another...

I think there was the one time the circles popped up when Molly wasn't fully awake - when she passed out in the kitchen and Ethan found her coming to, the circles were popped up before she did... if I'm recalling correctly.

I wonder if the power down on Ethan that happened will require them to fully reboot him and thus wipe out everything he's learned already. I mean, he already responded to Molly as his mother so he didn't lose everything - yet - but I'm sure he's not going to be the same as he was. He was acting weird though before so maybe it won't be a complete change so much as just more emphasis on that weirdness he was exhibiting (like when he caught the bird and kept it to "play with later").

I do agree it would help if they had committed to a certain timeline such as 30 years in the future. I love Back to the Future Part 2! Back then I was hoping that we would have everything they showed by now or next year.

Okay, so clearly the baby/alien spores are very powerful if they could convince that one scientist to kill the other one and knock out all those cameras and such. But it again makes me wonder how the alien spores/baby didn't give the same sort of power to Molly to protect itself from being taken out of her.

Is Kryger now dead or was he just knocked out by Sparks' lackey? (Side note: Could that guy look any more like Kurt Russell if he tried?! - the one playing the lackey not Kryger, that is...)

Now that Molly and John know that Sparks' daughter sent a transmission from another space station before everyone on it died from being "infected" by the alien spores and yet they still sent her up there, what will they do with that information? It certainly does make it look like they knew full well what would happen to Molly up there and they wanted that to occur. But why?

Oh and that guy Julie met, Odin I think it was, is he a spy for ISEA or anyone else involved with them or what? That's the distinct vibe I got. He showed up there not just to have her help fix his elbow joint for his prosthetic but also to scope the place (and Ethan) out, surely...

It's crazy that Sparks would send his daughter up knowing what would happen. So the spores made all the other people kill each other so Sparks' daughter could get pregnant? Did one of the other crew members kill her?

It's been a while since I watched the show so I'm a little foggy on that point. You're right it's good to post right after the show airs so it's fresh in my mind.

The only reason that I think they wanted Molly up there is that they wanted to see if you could get pregnant, come back, and they could take the baby out to study. The artificial womb they have works fine for the baby.

I agree that Odin was a spy for ISEA or someone else because he was scoping out the place and was really interested in Ethan. I think they sent Odin there because they were worried Ethan had told what happened in the woods. They want to make sure his memories don't return.

I think Sparks' daughter was up there before they knew what would happen... Molly said the daughter's mission was occurring at the same time Kryger was up in the space station she ended up in so his seeing his mother and then sending what he saw out the air lock happened around the same time Sparks' daughter sent the message that everyone on her mission with her was ill and attacking one another and then the circles appeared on her stomach and Molly knew that meant she too was impregnated - it's possible Sparks and the ISEA did not know what that meant at the time though or if they did know she was pregnant they could've assumed because there were others on her ship with her, presumably at least one male, that she was pregnant by natural means. They said she died so I would assume one of those other crew members did kill her. She was trying to inform the ISEA it wasn't safe to send anyone up in space but Molly noted they got that transmission before she was sent up, so they were at least aware there was something wrong up there but they still went ahead with sending her.

Sparks was told they should pull their upcoming missions and he said something about the fact that they're planned so far ahead that he can't just pull the plug, or something like that. But that I think had nothing to do with Molly's mission but was about future missions.

Ethan must be remembering something; the dream he had mentioned seemed to indicate he did. It's just that everyone was so surprised he could even dream at all that they overlooked the details he shared. I was surprised Molly didn't pay closer attention to what he did tell her about it because it sure sounded like he was talking about being on that boat...

I just finished watching episodes 7 and 8 which were shown at the same time! I loved seeing two episodes at once because she much happened! Don't read this if you haven't seen last night's episodes. Odin is the head of an anti technology group and he's using Julie to get closer to Ethan because he wants to destroy Ethan. We were right he's not to be trusted! Ethan is growing by leaps and bounds. He's beginning to question his own existence, to rebel, and can learn things he hasn't been taught. I'm finding his storyline more interesting now! Ethan shouldn't be slowed down, he should be allowed to continue to evolve!

I never thought Kern would help Kryger and Molly! It's good that he's questioning Spark's plans! He's a very valuable asset for them because he knows ISEA security systems!

So much is happening with the baby or as they like to call it the offspring. The spores/baby are so much more powerful then they know! I don't know how it does everything especially the part where it escaped! Those circles don't just mean pregnancy but also that someone is under their control.

How is the substance that they mined keeping Yasumoto alive?! He has such a high stake in everything! They went up to mine the substance and came across the spores!

For whatever reason I did not get the two shows this week - I know they were set to record on my dvr and I'm fairly certain they did but I went to watch them tonight and they were no longer listed on my dvr and no one in my household is claiming responsibility for deleting them either. So now I have to see if I can find them online... it wouldn't be so bad if it was just one episode I missed but of course it was a night with two shows airing so it's a little frustrating!

I'm writing this while trying not to read your post so I don't spoil anything for myself just yet... but I thought I'd mention my dvr issue since it may take me some time to find the two episodes online (if at all). If I can't find them I may need to rely on you to fill me in on what I missed!

Sorry to hear that your dvr failed to record those episodes TES! Maybe you can record them on a different day on a different channel? I hope that you can find them online.

It's not shown on any other channels (none that I get anyway) so that's not an option. To be honest, I haven't even looked for it online yet. Been too busy and too tired. If it was only 1 episode I missed I might be more inclined to look online so I can watch it and get it out of the way so to speak, but with being behind by 2 episodes, I'm just less enthused to have to seek it out like that. I don't know, maybe because the show just hasn't made me feel the need to see it compared to other things I could be watching...?

They are showing two episodes of Extant back to back again! I wish they would stop doing that because I end up staying up later to watch them!

Yeah another week of doubling up...

I didn't bother to look up those other two episodes... my Dad mentioned today that while he was dog-sitting at my brother's house he was able to watch the two episodes on demand (because my brother's got that feature) and he told me most of what happened (at least I think it was most of what happened since he basically told me the same stuff you mentioned in your post about them which I just read since I decided not to look for the episodes) so I think I'm fairly caught up. So long as the dvr doesn't go and delete the recording on me inexplicably once again, then I will be able to watch this week's two hours and be back on track.

I hope you are able to get caught up because a lot happened during last nights and I'm curious to know your thoughts. :)
