TAR Syndrome (Thrombocytopenia and Absent Radius) is a rare genetic disorder which is characterised by the absence of the radius bone in the forearm, and a dramatically reduced platelet count. Platelets are the clotting agent in blood. A lowered count leads to bruising, and at worst, life-threatening haemorrhage. .
My wife and I just found out that our baby has Tars. My wife is 19 weeks pregnant and the ultrasound revealed the missing radius bones. We are feeling a little frustrated because it doesn't seem like the doctors know anything. Can someone tell me where a good Children's hospital is that has dealt with this? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi I know that this is a.late reply but, just like you my wife and I was also frustrated with the doctors as well. Hope your baby is.doing fine. Our son, jaylin who is 12 now has progressed quite well and really has not had too many health problems.

Hey im travis, Im 24 and I was born with tar syndrome. My parents took me to a place called Shriners Hospital. The one I went to was in PA, but im pretty sure they have more locations. Basically what shriners hospital did was try to lengthen the existing bone and stretching the arm to a more suitable angle. Tasks were not difficult for me to begin with I have the Long arm TAR. Hello am a mum of a baby with tar...but with him he has a thumb n two fingers on the left hand...but the right hand is a bit shortened with 2 fingers without thumb....how do i help my little angel

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
