Psychopathic Relationship Experiment :-)

Now I know a few might think it's cruel... and a few might feel I'm justified...
My stance: Is it really "cruel" to experiment with a robot?
On the other board a few weeks ago, I mentioned how I've started dating a sociopath. I only did it initially because I was afraid (after I discovered he was a sociopath) that he'd stalk me as we've all grown accustom to. Then I decided it might be a fun experiment to find out how the progression of a psychopathic bond works.
We started as neighbors, hanging out with a group of 6 people a few nights a week.
After about a month, we hung out alone one night until 6am (first kiss) and I grilled him. I didn't really talk myself aside from asking a ton of questions about him so I wouldn't give my own personality away. That's one thing I've learned from my past: I talked too much - I gave it all away early on so the P's knew what to say to create the "perfect mate".
So Red Flags that first night: He said he was a good liar. He was arrested once for kidnapping his senior year but it was the kid's (victim) fault. He also said he's often called a robot and he can fake cry at will. He used to make his girlfriend cry all the time (but of course, according to him, it was her fault because she was hypoglycemic or something) and she was controlling & never let him have any friends... see the pattern forming?
*******And if I didn't know psychopathy, I would've been sucked right in to his pity play... but I just let him keep digging his hole.********
I told him I like pumpkin lattes... and suddenly he likes pumpkin lattes but yet he never drinks them when we get them. He gives his drink to me after a few sips. Last week, we visited his regular Starbucks and they asked if he wanted his normal mocha. When he said "No, pumpkin today please" they all looked at him like he was nuts - they had that confused "what the hell?" look.
He says he doesn't camouflage who he is, he just "adapts" to the people around him. He repeats "he's a giver" over and over, like he's trying to convince both of us of it.
He was overly flattering: I'm so hot.... I'm so smart... I'm so thin... I look so young... he's never been with someone with such a hot body before... etc.
I asked him to name one thing he's done for others where he expected absolutely nothing in return and he fixated on it for literally days. He would randomly, mid-conversation on a totally different topic, say "Oh! I remember when I gave a lady and her child an umbrella in Korea. It was raining really hard but they needed it more than I did." (obviously fake story - his demeanor alone gave it away)
When I said I wasn't feeling it between us, he got a little scary and clingy. I told him we have absolutely nothing in common and he began insisting like a mad person that we have tons in common but yet he couldn't name anything in particular (remember, I've been keeping my mouth shut about myself).
Now he's started telling me that I'm clinically insane (but of course, in a joking manner - pshuah yeah right) and that the guys we hang out with want to sleep with me... that the girls don't like me. That he "doesn't want to share me" with anyone else, including our friends.
(isolation)
Then there was the constant texting last week and after a weekend of intense relations and spending quite a bit of time together, that's when I started getting the butterflies......... so of course, I slammed on the brakes and I've ignored him for the past 3 days and **POOF** butterflies are gone.
The skinny of it is this:
It's an addiction to the constant attention combined with the other behaviors... but primarily the attention thing.
My stance: Is it really "cruel" to experiment with a robot?

Me,however, I do not ever want to have one in my life again.
I'm not really sure what you are getting out of this? I'm not trying to be a jerk, but why are you wasting your time with someone you know has a personality disorder and it won't go anywhere, when you could be focusing on your own happiness and finding someone who is healthy for you?
I'm trying to understand at what point people "lose themselves" in the psychopathic bond.
You can't find a cure without knowing the cause.
I have no dating prospects at this particular point in time so I wouldn't say it's a waste or that I'm missing out.
I enjoy figuring things out, especially human behavior.
I am just worried - I know how they are, and the amount of anxiety I get built up thinking about mine and what he did, just worries me that you are putting yourself into a bad situation.
I could see interviewing victims, and sociopaths, but them knowing they are willing subjects, and you aren't a potential to be a victim. Be safe.
Faking the goo-goo, ga-ga's...mirroring him so he gets bored.
I'm in no way cornered with this one.
If you can honestly think that you won't be harmed by falling for this guy or him going all psychoballistic on you than what can you get out of it besides a paper?
Maybe if you got all needy and cried about some made up events he might discard you. I know when I broke down crying is when mine discarded me. Emotional overload, he couldn't handle it. Even though he caused it! Be needy - make it all about you. They hate that. I called mine selfish one night he wasn't happy in the slightest, but he was. Actually as we know he was ALWAYS selfish.
LOL
So far, they have been extremely disappointed that I am no longer "good supply" and they don't come around as much. :-) I have become VERY self confident in the past month (like a huge hurdle...as if "all of a sudden" I just BECAME confident...although I know it is the culmination of four years of intense and difficult work on myself).
When they talk, I respond immediately to their put downs. Before I used to just keep quiet and maybe even laugh at "how dumb I am". Now I do the opposite, and I calmly tell them they're being jerks and that I don't appreciate being put down for something I definitely should not be put down for, such as having a difference of opinion on a political issue, or a spiritual issue, or even about whether or not I have a right to not tolerate being made fun of for no reason. It's incredibly empowering to not take their shit anymore and to react immediately rather than having to wait to 'process' what just happened. (which, I think was just me ignoring my instincts...and then needing time to find them later.)
And the best part is that now that I am more confident, I have made two new friends (one male, one female) who are genuinely nice people! What a relief to be around them instead of being constantly ripped on! In a rel with N's you really don't realize you are being constantly nit picked until you spend time around nice ppl and feel GOOD afterwards rather than exhausted after being with a N.
@onthemend: So proud of you! Makes me smile ear-to-ear. And I totally agree with everything you said!
Once you've overcome the psycho-hypnosis, it's funny how quick you respond to red flags.
When you know what to look for, it's super easy to not get emotionally involved.
P/S/N actually become laughable.
***UPDATE***
So I tried breaking it off with new guy. Obviously, no luck. He continues to insist that we have fantastic sex and says "Why would you want to give that up?"
(ha ha! so full of himself!)
BUT
yesterday I was laid up in bed sick. Like really crappy sick... and I told him how cute it was that my 10-yr old saw me and said "Oh you sick. I'll take care of you."
Shortly after, he asks me to come get my things from his place and give him back his key. I was like "I'll grab them tomorrow unless you need them out today"
He says, "Yes, I want them out please."
So I told him to give them to our mutual friend and I'll pick up my stuff from her and give her his key.
Then I hear a knock on my door followed by a text that says "Door please."
(WTF ~ I'M SICK YOU TURD!!!)
I ignore him AND the door.
So then he starts in with the fake nice-guy act: "No, just pick your stuff up whenever. I don't want our friend to have my key."
I don't respond.
So then he texts again with the "Why would you want to give up such great sex?" thing AGAIN.
~~(this is why N/S/P's are so funny when you know what you're up against, their behavior is insane)~~
I wrote him back:
I'm sick. Head hurting, snot-nosed, tired type of sick. You were the one who just asked me to get my sh*t outta your place today of all days. That is insanely douchey. So you were the one who broke it off with me, while I'm sick in bed and over text. We're good. No drama. No confrontations. I'm going to sleep now.
I'll see if flipping it back on him doesn't work. :-)
and yes after so long you do start to see these guys for what they are pretty fast. the red flags become just that...warning signs and now you can see it. I never did before.
Flipping it back on him ---> not so great, but it's given me a good excuse for an "out".
He's begged and pleaded for another chance. ADMITTED his behavior is inappropriate but "it's just his nature" and I should accept that and be patient with him. He's sent me strange letters and little gifts, which I've ignored. I gave him his key and Crazypants gave it back to me in front of our friends so I wouldn't cause a scene... because if I got angry, then I'd look like the nutter.
The final straw was this past Friday, my friend's birthday party. He showed up uninvited, dressed like a hitman --- including a suit, trench coat, fedora & white neck tie. CREEPS!!!
When everyone asked why he was all dressed up, he just said, "I felt like looking nice."
He tried to pull me away from the party twice, including watching me like a hawk out my friend's back door while I talked on the phone to my daughter.
It's luckily now gotten to the point where our friends see what I was seeing and have told him to get lost & that he's being insanely creepy.
I left town Saturday and when I got home, I parked my car in a visitor spot on the other side of my apartment complex so he wouldn't see I was home. I'm guessing when Crazypants didn't see my car parked in its usual spot, he started freaking out and walked by my house no less than 3 times Sunday morning until I texted him to stop walking by my house so I have a log in case I need a restraining order.
Like I said, the stalking was inevitable. I've only known this creep for 2 months. There's no reason it should be this serious this quick. When they pick their victims, there isn't much you can do. You just have to diffuse the situation as best as you can.
Just be leery of anyone you're immediately attracted to-->look for those red flags. Stop worrying about seeing a sociopath in everyone because I have a feeling the statistics are severely under-estimated. Hold strong to your boundaries and values. Trust your gut and don't talk too much or give yourself away. As my newest stalker says, "I'm not a chameleon, I just adapt to the people I'm surrounded by."
