It describes a case where a man was banned from being anywhere on his college campus around a girl that attends the same college (apparently including student housing and his job on campus). The reason for this was that he happens to resemble the man who raped the girl.
In addition to the ban against him he and his friends/relations were subjected to a month of investigation. Despite the investigation clearing them of ANY wrongdoings he is still being punished for resembling someone thousands of miles away.

It describes growing efforts by radical feminists to pressure colleges to automatically assume that the accused are guilty rather than looking at evidence. This article looks into the issue in greater detail than I care to try to summarize here since it's so frustrating to even think about.

Those woman need to understand that what they are doing is making it worse for real victims of these crimes at the same time totally distorting so many young mens lifes all in one go. This sort of stuff makes me so mad!
I wish there were a simple way to share the meaning of the impact of short-sighted decisions made by politicians.
Women and men make things up at times unfortunately... They lie sometimes and I do think that they're prosecuted when they're caught thank God... They need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if they intentionally try and have innocent people arrested and put into prison
The haters use the exact same tactic on those who advocate for reforming the sex offender registry and making it more fair for sex offenders AND their families.
It is important to understand that the registry also has a devastating affect on the families of sex offenders----especially the children---who have done nothing wrong to deserve all the restrictions the registry places on daddy.
Little Suzy wonders why she cannot have her friends over to her house for an all night slumber party. Billy does not understand why daddy cannot attend his baseball games or a play at school he is in. Kids don't deserve this. They suffer and the only thing they have done is to love daddy.
The advocates for all the restrictive laws do not seem to care about the registrant's family. So many times when the lawmakers want to pass another law which will curtail our rights, they preach "For the children," or "Let's protect the children," or "It gives us one more tool to fight predators (you will notice that people tough on sex offender reform throw out the three 'p' words----predator, pedophile, and pervert.
While we are protecting the children, how about the children of registrants. Do they not count? Isn't their life just as precious as the lives of children of parents who are not on the registry?
I advocate and support not only prison inmates and their families, but also sex offenders. That makes sense in that I was a registrant once myself and I understand how detrimental some of these laws are.
When I advocate or talk about reform, I get the same "You must be a sex offender," or "these people need to be taken out and shot" or "would you allow one of these 'perverts' to move in next to you", to "they all will eventually re-offend," to the classic "do you not care about the safety of the children."
I answer in this manner, "Yes, I am a sex offender as I served eight years in prison for a crime I did not commit, which was verified years later when the "victim" came forward to recant her testimony. DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH AN INNOCENT MAN GOING TO PRISON?"
BTW, the recidivism rate for sex offenders hovers close to 5%, which is the lowest rate of re-offense for any crime except murder.
I think all minorities deal with the situation you have addressed, SleepWalrus. Many times that is the only defense to their position they have.
But do I care about being labeled a lover of sex offenders? Not in the least. I will continue to do what I do because it is the right thing to do.

There is a huge problem regarding sex offenses. Sex offenses are the only offenses I am aware of that have a high percentage of people getting convicted with no physical evidence and only on the word of the complaining witness, usually a female. If one of these victims can testify and make the jury believe her, the guy is convicted---innocent or not.
As a result, there is no evidence to test for DNA. In my case, of course there was no physical evidence, as there was no crime to begin with. So I had nothing to test.
A person has to prove he has been wrongly convicted before he can file a civil suit and if you cannot prove it, you have no grounds for the civil suit.
In a murder trial, the prosecutor usually needs motive, the weapon used, and the cause of death. In most trials involving drugs, there are the drugs which can be used as evidence. In an assault case, there is usually evidence such as bruises or scratches on the victim.
A trial for a sex offense needs nothing like that---only the word of the victim.
There was no way for me to prove my innocence. The young lady did try to go before a judge and tell the truth fifteen years later in a court hearing, but he DA stepped in and told her that if her story that day was any different than the story she told at the trial 15 years earlier, he would charge her with perjury and contact CPS to have her children taken from her.
The second problem is that the DAs here in this country in some cases will fight an offender tooth and nail to not allow DNA to be tested. They don't want to be told that their office made a grave mistake by convicting an innocent man, so their ploy is just to never determine if he was innocent in the first place by blocking DNA testing.
And if DNA is tested, the amount of money awarded the wrongfully convicted inmate is just a pittance.
Too man prosecutors and people in law enforcement couldn't care less about justice or any fairness----they want convictions at any cost, and they usually get them.
We do not have a justice system in America.
Instead, we have a legal system, and there is a difference.
