DAs, Prosecutors, and Judges Have No Shame

The one thing that really bothers me is that these prosecutors, DAs, cops, people in other areas of law enforcement and yes, judges----such as Scalia----always think they are so right about everything. They are so confident that they get cocky, which is what Scalia did.
Then when they are proven wrong, we don't hear a peep out of them. Never man enough to say they were wrong or to apologize. The words "I am sorry" is not in their vocabulary.
Even when they try their best to execute an innocent man on death row, who maybe has been there for decades, they rarely offer anything close to an apology. To add insult to injury, many times these same DAs are behind the push to NOT compensate the innocent man who spent a good part of his life in prison.
It is funny that with every criminal defendant, the DA makes a bold statement that "he MUST take responsibility for his crime" but when they make a mistake and are wrong, do they take responsibility? Hell, no. They cover up, make excuses, or won't even address the fact that they complicated a man's life and were wrong. Really small human beings we are dealing with here.
One story that made my day every day for weeks was the story of a man who they caught with some images, which they were sure were of an underage female. He went to trial, the DA was cocky and ready to break the champagne bottle for a celebration, so he brought in this "expert witness" who testified she was probably 13 or 14 years old.
Here comes the young lady in the images, Lupe Fuentes, to the rescue. She came to the trial, proved that she was over 18 years of age, and the prosecutor had egg on her face. I would have loved to have spoken with the expert witness.
Said "expert witness" aka a gunslinger, was wrong and made a fool of himself.
What made the story even worse was that the DA had evidence that should have proven the young lady in the images was legal age, but the DA would have none of that. She went to trial anyway.
This story gave me laughing material for a month. Rescued by a porn star!!!

I have to tell everyone here, this young lady may be a porn star, but she has more character and courage than ten of these overzealous DAs will ever hope to have.
The problem with DAs, judges, and some cops is that they are shameless. They know no shame.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

Well, good morning to you!Today is National Roller Coaster Day. Are any of you going? It's also National Tell-A-Joke Day! Come up with some and share!I'm not bright with jokes these days, but I'll start:"Today I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon...I'll let you know." :D

I remember seeing George Bush making a speech for a moment on one of the Michael Moore films... Just really full of himself amused with his audience as he referred to them as 'the haves and the haves more'... I think the some see certain people as dispensable.. And it really doesn't matter too much to them if they 'go down' for the wrong crime as they aren't that important after all
I think and hope more and more people are starting to see this way that 'the haves' have of looking at certain people and realize that they are too important after all
I did not want that ruler you carry across my knuckles. ha ha
I love ya, Jan.

I think someone who's to judge what may happen to a persons life should be automatically be removed from the bench if bigotry is exposed... Apparently he's used the 'N' word in court for fuggs sakes
This is the bail hearing... And I actually agree with the judge completely although the timing couldn't be worse .. He was really out of line on this and apparently he has a history of racism .. I have been trying to look up more info
I think ALL trials now should be video taped... Not for the sake of TV but for the sake of keeping people accountable... There's no reason they shouldn't be and it would be much easier to revisit bad behaviour by all sides if it's taped

They continue toward trial knowing that in a highly emotional case, evidence is not as important----and sometimes not needed at all-----to get a conviction. This is especially true in defendants on trial for sex crimes.
Most juries are very hesitant to acquit such a defendant even if there is very little evidence, as they don't want to be blamed if the defendant is indeed acquitted and commits another sex crime. So to be sure, they will give away to their fears and convict. Prosecutors know this and play on this fact.
I have talked to more than a few jurors who stated, "Well, there was not much evidence either way, but I did not want to let a possible child molester go free." With reasoning such as that it is no wonder that our prisons are full of innocent men and women.
The DA knows if he can just get the case in front of a jury, the chances of a conviction are high even with little evidence.
In other cases there is a lot of police/prosecutorial misconduct. Police get paid to make arrests, which leads to convictions. They embellish their stories, which to them is embellishment, but it is just plain ole lying under oath. Prosecutors depend on convictions for the benefit of their career, so they want convictions. Not necessarily justice, but convictions. The public elects and re-elects DAs on their conviction rate and the prosecutors are well aware of this fact.
This fact causes the DA and the police to coach witnesses, especially young witnesses, to get a conviction even if the witness does not have a clear understanding of what really happened. The "game" the cops play on witnesses is that they tell the young and naive witnesses that, "This man is an evil person. Don't you want us to put him away and get him off the street so he cannot hurt others?" How do you think many witnesses will respond to that especially younger witnesses who have been taught all their lives that cops are "their friend?" Cops know this and use it to their advantage.
I have seen this happen with my own eyes so I know it is true.
When there is the government who has an agenda to garner nothing but convictions, you will always have injustices and wrongful convictions.

To a certain extent, it is used for a lot of crimes as juries have been conditioned with fear to be hesitant to acquit any defendant.
One trick the prosecutor uses is to subtlety persuade the jurors that the defendant must be guilty of something or he would not be here. Amazingly enough, this works sometimes.
The entire problem is that prosecutors know that the tactics they use do not permit a fair trial, but they don't care. When DAs just don't care, you have injustices.

ink that there are definitely assumptions that go on with the juries Rew as you've said... I think automatically with the press and the way they like to 'report???' a story there is a presumption of guilt... Innocent until proven guilty is really a myth...
I watched a few episodes of The First 48 I can't remember the name but it was missing people... And the police would talk during the show as they were investigating and listening to them talk and their assumptions was very telling... They make a lot and of course discuss what they're thinking to get others on board
Trying to find jurors that truly haven't seen much information on big cases would be very hard no matter what they say and trying to find jurors who won't discuss the case I also find suspect... What if they don't agree they often try and change one another's mind... There is a lot that can hurt cases
I think if a lot of these cases were videotaped more could be confronted if laws of the court weren't being adhered to
I know that there are judges who are biased. Currently have a case in a southern state where the judge in one state has ordered for child to be turned over to parent and in another southern state the judge there has done everything including working privately with the attorney in their state to obstruct the valid order. This has been going on for over three years. Gone to state supreme court...and here's hoping latest pick-up order is going to happen. This particular judge has control over their county ... and their law enforcement...videotaped would certainly out his particular bias!
I have talked to a few members in law enforcement and some do not even like the idea of body cameras or public access to dashboard cams.
It was like pulling hen's teeth to get police to start video taping interrogations of suspects.
Trials should probably all be video taped. It would ensure a visual record of the trial itself and would ensure fairness.
And here is my radical thought for the day-----let's start televising death penalty executions. Why not? If we are proud of these barbaric forays into insanity, why not show the American people what the process is like?? Don't the tax payers and voters of this once great democracy have a right to know how their hard earned dollars are being used and do they not want to know what our government is up to?
Really. Let's get everything out into the open so the American citizen can decide for themselves the policies they want to support instead of being told "what's best for them" by some self-serving politician.

Her images and videos are all over the internet and she may even have her own web site, so they are readily available if anyone cares to look. She is not some obscure young lady that makes a porn movie every once in a while. Lupe Fuentes is well-known by anyone in the porn industry or anyone who has ever looked at very many adult videos.
Now she is known for being a hero.
Furthermore, any actress in an adult porn movie is subject to a 2257 regulation which would prove her age.
I suspect that the DA damn well knew all this, yet wanted to get this in front of a jury and hope that a young or semi-incompetent defense attorney would never challenge it. He or she wanted to deliberately pull the wool over the jury's eyes and just hope that Little Lupe's true age was never presented in court. I am sure they never thought that Lupe Fuentes would fly in and be willing to testify in court on behalf of an alleged child pornography suspect.
The problem is that the defense attorney brought Mrs. Fuentes in the flesh----no, not that kind of flesh ha ha----to testify with birth certificate in hand. That sort of ruined the DAs attempt at convicting an innocent man.
But the point is that the DA would have had NO qualms about convicting an innocent person and surely sending him to prison.

PS In my previous post regarding televising executions for the public to view, I am serious. Let's stop government from keeping everyone in the dark about things. Let's educate people, as it is only through knowledge that we can make informed decisions.
I remember years ago talking to one of the founding members of AIDWYC after I'd seen a very long and good documentary about execution saying that I wish it was televised and I wish the guillotine was used for execution .. Stop making it look like a bloody general anesthetic .. It's not...It's murder
I think televising it is a good idea however I don't think it would take long to desensitize a lot of people... And some don't give a damn unfortunately... They really don't care about the suffering of others as long as it's not them sadly
For me the reason I think things should be taped is to show what exactly happened and I love that people are now taping what goes on with the police agencies....It's important and it should be transparent
