I would totally agreee with you that GP's should not prescribe anti-depressants, period. They simply do not have the training or sub specialty training that psychiatrists do.
If there is anyway possible, I would encourage you to try the person that your therapist wants you to see. I know driving can be hard, expensive and be a hassle all at the same time. But maybe you could make it a me day, do some shopping, visit the sites, find the thrift stores, etc. You know what I am trying to say. Maybe it would only take three or four visits to get you stabilized.
Cymbalta really helped me. In my case, a rheumy, granted a well intentioned rheumy, was prescribing it for me as he had a sub specialty in pain management. He put me on the max dose and it made me manic. Zoloft did not help. The best thing overall that I took was prozac but they don't want me on any SSRI's anymore.
So consider it, hon. I know your plate is full and you know your limitations better than I. I just want you to get some real pain relief. I hate seeing your suffer.
Big gentle hugs,
Melinda
I agree with Toni that you know your body best and it's not going to hurt you to go without the cymbalta for awhile. There are withdrawal symptoms from cymbalta but you haven't been on it long and you're on a low dose. I you want to discontinue, I'd check with the NP to find the safest way to do that.
I had an extreme reaction to cymbalta like RayRay. Everyone's different. It's a miracle drug for some but it's helpful to know that other's simply cannot tolerate it.
I hope you get this straightened out quickly, my friend.
I didn't take the Cymbalta this morning...just trying to decide if I want to create my own method of reducing.
You don't tell someone to just stop their medicine without Dr. supervision. I think we need to be real careful in what we advise someone to do with their meds, regardless what THAT drug did to YOU.

you will feel better once the levels are right for you. Like I said, what is good for one person does't mean its' good for someone else.
As you know, i take 2 Cymbaltas a day along with Prozac. NO SIDE EFFECTS WHATSOEVER. They told me to give it at least 2=3 months and i did.
This is MY MEDICAL HISTORY; noone elses. What works for you Cherry, is NOT what works for others.
Love you, little sis....I hope you get to feeling better. Be careful as to who you listen to,unless theres' an MD after their name.
Take care,
MaryKathryn
