Cherry, I have had that happen to me so many times. I have gotten so irritable and weird. I have to go off it, I just can't live like that. I hope tomorrow you get it straightened out.
Why did they switch you in the first place? Maybe you can go back on the zoloft.
Cymbalta made me detached and probably irritable too.... I don't remember, but most all of them do something I don't like.

hi there! sorry your meds made you feel all wacky. Cymbalta and me don't get along AT ALL. I tried in a long time ago back when i was first diagnosed with fibro, my neurologist at the time was also hopeing it would help my horried migraine headaches and it gave me mania!

It screwed my head up so bad my dad had to drag me to the doctor so he could see what state i was in to take me off the meds. My dad was pretty certain if the doc saw me like that he would take me off right away and he did! i dont remember much but dad said i was hideing in the closet talking about how the goverment could read our minds so i was trying not to think! i also had bad insomnia! never again! LOL!!

i think its one of those meds that works really well for that small % of people that it works for and the rest have really weird experiences. I hope they find a med that works for you. I'm glad they are getting you in quickly with all of this.

Cherry the Cymbalta is a SSNRI and the Zoloft Is a SSRI. I don't think you can switch right over. I experienced same thing. My sister weaned from zoloft. The cymbalta is helping her with muscle pain.

O.K. my take on this is a little different.... BUT PLEASE remember this is ONLY my opinion and what happened to me. Everyones system is VERY different, what works for Peter may not work for Paulina. HEE HEE! Zoloft for me was probably the most useless drug I ever put in my system. It did absolutely NOTHING for me... I was more depressed because it would not work. At one point I was given Nuerontin with cymbalta for pain and depression. I have been diagnosed with major clinical depression during a 3 month stay in a very good Psych hospital and had every test run on me known to man. This was after a suicide attempt where they had to start my heart back 3 times in the same night. Now when my neck pain got to the point of insanity I was given these together. The nuerontin did not help at all but for ME.... I reiterate after several weeks my depression was almost completely gone. The effects of cymbalta usually take for everyone fully to kick in about 4 to 6 weeks. I was a little nervous and shaky but nothing like what you say you are experiencing. I think the problem is the Dr. prescribed one on top of the other which you DO NOT mix those 2 together.... hence you are having these symptoms which are exactly the symptoms of seretonin toxicity. I would not take anything until I talk to a doctor or stop the cymbalta right now and give it at least a few days before I started the zoloft again. The problem here is if you want to start a new med like cymbalta there MUST be a period of time between an SSRI and an SSRNI of at least a few weeks. There should be enough zoloft in your system to keep you from going batshit crazy in the meantime. I am VERY surprised your doctor mixed these 2 together.... that is definitely a no-no. You will be o.k. so don't freak... just don't take anything for now and you will be o.k. Remember this is ONLY my opinion but I would never tell anyone something I thought might hurt them.... but you WILL be o.k. Peace! Randy

I'm starting to think a GP shouldn't be the one prescribing antidepressants. Yesterday, my therapist asked me if I would consider seeing a Dr. he sees who does JUST this sort of thing. I just didn't want to drive an hour away to get to this guy so I said, no.

I've been on Cymbalta for about 7 weeks, but 4 of those were with Zoloft, too. No wonder I feel so screwedup. Now...I'm guessing the NP will have me combine hem again, as I make the switch back to Zoloft.

In my opinion it would be well worth the drive! These 2 are never to be prescribed together. I wish you the best and I hope you see a psych doc to help with prescribing. Randy

Well, I saw a very nice Nurse Practitioner. She said it's common practice to overlap the meds while changing from one to another. I couldn't convince her otherwise so I'm going along with it. So Cymbalta at half of what I was taking along with 50mg. of zoloft for a few days...then Cymbalta every other day through Sunday while increasing Zoloft up to 100mg. Then no more Cymbalta and stay on 100 mg. Zoloft until I see my doctor at the beginning of January.

Does this make sense to anyone? My shoulder was so bad while I was there that she said she wished there was something she could do to help. I told her I wasn't looking for anything other than ditching the Cymbalta. I realy don't want my doc to think I was going there while she was away, in hopes of scoring more pain meds.

It looks like the Voltaren Gel won't be happening because it's too expensive for Medicaid to consider it. Ah well...

Sorry for the long post...it's taken a while to type this and I didn't realize how long it had become.

I only took cymbalta for a short time as I could not take the side effects made me igh and sick to stomach and nothing else for me
I hope you get your meds back in order

One thing at a time, huh? So you do this switch-er-roo and then be back in business to get more pain control.

Hi, I can not take Cymbalta or any of those type of meds.......they have horrific effects on me. Combined with Zoloft? My God...seratonin syndrome can find you in intensive care! Please seek medical advices Cherry! We are all different.....gabapentin, and other similar meds had same reaction with me. Thinking of you x

Cherry I missed this somehow. I was on Cymbalta and had a reaction to it and ended up on the floor gasping for breath. Just know that you know your own body better than anyone else does and if you feel like you are having a reaction stop taking the Cymbalta. It's not going to hurt you to go without it that's for sure. You were on Zoloft before and know that it will carry you.
I've weaned myself off of many meds and stopped many meds by my own decision. It's my body not my drs.
