She's very dramatic and needy when she comes for a hair appt.. If her husband is here, she's not particularly nice to him and he obviously waits on her all the time. AI know she gets out more than once a month for a haircut or perm because I've run into them at the grocery store. She's all smiles to see me and having no trouble walking all over the large store!
I have loved spending time with older people since I was a young child. I spent almost every night at my Grandmother's after my Grandfather died when I was 6. My Great Grandmother loved with her until she was moved to a nursing home at the age of 92. I was in the 5th grade and stopped to see her every afternoon as I was walking home from school. I bonded with the woman whose room was next to hers and continued to spend time with her for years after my Great Grandmother died.
When I was in 6th through 8th grades, I got a group of classmates to come along with me at Christmastime and I'd play my guitar and we'd be wandering minstrels, singing Christmas carols up and down the halls...stopping at each room to make them all feel special. The list goes on and on...
This particular client has received the loving care from me for years...even went to her home (several miles away) to cut her hair last Winter when she had injured something and said she couldn't get out.
I'm still feeling injured from Tuesday's incident and though I've taken a long time to type this, it wasn't the smartest thing for me to do. I just felt the need to explain. Next time she calls for an appt., I'll explain...nicely...that if she thinks she'll need bathroom assistance, I will be needng her Husband to stay.
