Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Support Group
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is any sudden and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant aged one month to one year. SIDS is responsible for roughly 50 deaths per 100,000 births in the US.
John was also planned. I was having some medical issues that had to be fixed with surgery. But, once I had the surgery, I would not be able to have another child: it would be too risky for both me and the baby.
We were given a 3 month window to conceive.
He was born in Feb. of this year. Isaiah died in Oct. 2006.
How soon you have another child is completely up to you and your husband. There's no time table.
We had to do it right awa because I needed a hyseretcomy. Even if I hadn't needed a hysterectomy I am glad that we got pregnant right away. I don't know that we would have if we had waited. But ultimately, it's up to you and your husband when you want to try and when you're ready. Everyone is a little different.
So, once we had Tabatha, so many people thought we were "all better." We lost several friends and stopped talking to some family. Not because they were upset that I had another child, but because they thought we should stop talking about Isaiah and should stop missing him now that we had Tabatha. It got even worse after John was born because now we have another boy.
My family was supportive. I am sure they were afraid for us, but they kept it to themselves.
Like you said, God knows what is best for you and your family. When it happens, just cling to that fact if family and friends don't react how you wish they would.
I was releived and devestated all at the same time...after he was born i stuggled even more, scared that I couldn't bond to this baby cuz he might just die and i couldn't do it ever again...i couldn't sleep, spent so much time watching over him.
But now as we come up on his 3rd bday I find that he and I are so close and I don't know how I would have made it without 'my three sons'
Don't you let anybody tell you how you feel, only you can decide what is right for your family. How you grieve how you cope and when you decide to try again...
Of course a new baby is not a replacement, but it can certainly be a bandage for the huge wound left behind by this loss.
Bently was my first, so when I lost him, I lost my whole life and my identity with it. I had become "Bently's mommy" in my mind. Then he was gone, and I had nobody to be a mommy to. I felt so lost and confused.
I know that this baby is not Bently, could never be and will never be. This baby is not a replacement of him, either. This baby is just another piece of me and Brandon for us to be able to love and hopefully raise. So, I guess if people cannot support that, then that is their choice, but I know that I am happy and that is all that matters to me.
Mady became their Angel Aug. 25 2011.
I still watch their son, but have told them I don't think I will be able to watch the new baby.....& that my Prayer for them is that the Mommie can stay home with that child until the one year Birthday!!
Out of my 4 Mom's that I care for their children, 3 of them are expecting! I had to chose only one....& I am a bit uncomfortable with that one due in a month now! I'll probably not take my eyes off of him & he will have to sleep next to me!!
