Stroke Support Group
A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Ok, I don't want to assume I had one, because really who wants to say they've had a stroke? It's terrifying.
I'll explain:
I'm in my 20s. I used to smoke a lot and drink more than I should.
On Saturday, I had woken up after 10 hours sleep and had a good day doing art and chatting with friends. I was out visiting a friend at a pub. I ordered a virgin drink and I hadn't taken any medications for my back or knee pain that day. I also quit taking Marvelon (birth control) a month prior to that.
We were chatting, and my friend asked me a question. I formulated an answer, and was in the midst of saying it, when I felt a sharp and painful pulse in my neck. I started slurring my words and stumbled over them as my coherent thoughts disintegrated. I started trying to find my words, and everything became foggy and confusing. The rig my side of face felt tingly. I looked at the table in a daze (it seemed like everything was so far away- out of body experience maybe?) I also felt the intense urge to burst into tears. I felt an intense headache but it left an hour later.
My friends looked at me strangely and didn't say much.
I work in the healthcare field so when this happened, I immediately wondered if I might have something wrong with my arteries or if it could have been stroke symptoms.
A few hours later, I went home and called up my friend telling him what had happened. He's an RN and told me he'd sit with me in the hospital. We did so, and after chatting with a doctor, the doctor diagnosed me with an atypical migraine. Really? A migraine? I know I can still formulate thoughts if I have a headache.
My question is, what is it? I have a GP appointment today and I'm going to tell him everything and tell me to get on that neurologist appointment stat.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Do check with a neuro doc. See what the doctor says.
