A stroke is an acute neurologic injury where the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted, either by a clot in the artery or if the artery bursts. The brain perfused by that artery no longer receiving oxygen carried by the blood and dying with cessation of function from that part of the brain.

Is it difficult or impossible to get private insurance if you've been diagnosed with having a TIA? Cost?

It really depends where you live. In Florida (where I live), they cannot deny you insurance because of a pre-existing condition, but other states have a waiting period and others yet can deny you. You need to check with an insurance agent. Cost is always quite high. My husband got insurance after his disability but it cost us $500/month......

This is why this country needs health care reform! The money-grubbing insurance companies are in control.... And I wish this government would get it's sh---t together! We spend so many billions on defense and wars and bailing out big corporations, not to mention the aid we send to third world nations, but we cannot help and take care of our own people.... but I am ranting. Excuse me.

I was formally denied after being kicked out of my Employee's based Insurance ..there was a screw up with COBRA.. regardless,,,as of 2011 you can apply for PCIP insurance with the Feds,,,anywhere in the country,,,I found this by looking and looking ..Go to PCIP.gov

let me know what you come up with,,,I am on this insurance currently,,
