Last year was my first set of holidays after losing my daughter. I was an angry, sad, pissed off mess. I hated the entire holiday season and I was miserable and depressed. Then at my job, we were doing donations for toys for tots. To help ease my pain I donated a few small toys that would have been age appropriate for my daughter in her memory. It made me smile and feel better knowing that some little girl would have a smile on her face that day because of me and my daughter.

Even though I had my rainbow baby this past November, I will be donating again this year, in memory of my Aubree. I urge you all to consider doing something similar. It made me feel a thousand times better and lifted a small amount of grief off of my heart.

Thank you! What an honour to donate toys in your daughters name. I will definitely do the same in my sons name. thank you very much for the sweet/thoughtful idea. Thanks for that wonderful idea Motek. I think it will be nice to do something for someone else less fortunate this season. I had so many hopes & dreams for this first Christmas with my son and of course I start to feel so down sometimes thinking that now I can't go crazy shopping for all the great little baby boy stuff at the store.
But hopefully, I'll have the strength to get to the store and go to the baby section and pick out some things I would've gotten for my son. It may be tough at the time but I think I'll look back on it, and smile and be so proud of myself for how strong I am to be able to do it. It will also be a way to stay busy for a little bit.

I think it's so nice how you're still doing this in honor of Aubrey even though you have your new little girl. It goes to show that we'll never forget our precious babies no matter how many future children we may have.

I strongly urge every one to do it, and pass it along to friends and family. So many little ones don't get to enjoy holidays because of financial situations. It's a simple gesture that can change another child/ family holiday. :)

This is a wonderful idea. I don't think I am up for it this year. The thought of even going to a store and looking at toys makes me way too emotional but I pray I am in a better state with my grief next year.

Even if you aren't up for it this year, you can keep it in mind for the next year. It's not an easy thing to do. I sobbed at the checkout buying the stuff, but I did it regardless. This year, I did it with a happy heart. Both years I put a sticky note on the outside of the package that simply said "Donated in loving memory of Aubree" that way who ever wrapped it or saw it would know it was for her. :)
