Silly period question

This is probably a really stupid question and I feel weird about asking it but...
I just got my first period today after Quinn was born 5 weeks ago. I know the doctor said to not use tampons for the bleeding right after the birth but Im guessing its OK now since it is a normal period. I go on Friday for my 6 week checkup.
Im glad I finally got it, I have been very emotional and sad this past week. I felt like I did the first couple of days after Quinn was born. Im hoping the overwhelming feelings will quiet down now a little since my period is finally here. How was the first period for the rest of you who have gone through it? Were you extra moody or sad and did it go away? Was the period like a normal period or was it really heavy? Sorry Im asking all these TMI questions but Im just curious. Thanks everybody

I had Adelynn on Feb 11th, 2010 and my first period didn't come until May 4th. It was just like a normal period use to be for me. It wasn't any heavier.. I had my second period on June 3rd and it's not any different. But I used tampons for first period without any problems.

I got my first period about 5 weeks after I lost Gracie. My doc wanted to see me 3 weeks after her birth and at that time he said that It was ok to do everything like i used to. So I did use tampons. My first one was really heavy and lasted longer than usual too. When I had my second one and it was heavy but not like the first one and it wasn't any longer than usual either. I was sad with the first one because it was just another reminder that I was no longer pregnant. I was really happy to get the second one though because that meant we could start TTC.

I hope you start feeling better. I hate how any little thing can trigger the overwhelming feelings to return.

I was really sad when I got my first period.... also a little shocked. I got it after 6 weeks; I was still mourning and couldn't believe my body was ready to get pregnant again. My period was up and down-- really heavy one day and non-existant the next day. I also had a miscarriage last summer and my periods were extremely heavy after that. I would just be prepared for it to be different than usual. Hope that helps!

I had my first period 5 weeks after I lost Ben it was extremely heavy i wore both tampons and pads at the same time my next cycle was about normal but shorter i was very emotional

I got my first period 4 weeks and 3 days after I gave birth to my daughter. I have been on a 31-32 day cycle ever since. My doctor told me not to use tampons for the first cycle but I also had an infection which contributed to losing my daughter. My cycle has been a little better than it was before, not as much cramping. I used to get sore breasts really bad before AF and so far for the last few months...nothing. I am now noticing that I get a really bad lower back ache, so things have changed.

My first two periods after having Joel were horrible. I was using both tampons and pads and they would be full in less than an hour. I did specifically ask if I could use tampons (it was 6 weeks after delivery for me) and they said it was OK.
