Sorry, I'm gonna start this out by saying I don't need to hear people preaching at me about rehab, or counseling, I get enough of that at home.
I hate when my friends today comment on how much I drink. How can they understand what it feels like to lay awake hours at night with the image of your only child, dead, in your arms?? What right do they have to tell me there's other remedies. I tried counseling, support groups, medication, living good and NONE OF IT WORKED. I'm ok most days, but, yes, I have days when I just need a stiff drink before bed because sometimes everything that happened with Sophia still haunts me. I still have nightmares, I still have bad days.
But SO WHAT? All my friends have babies, they don't have any clue what I have been through, what all of us have been through, and they have no right to call me complaining about all their kids' annoying habits and then tell me how I should handle losing my only baby. I am still healing.
They have no clue how it feels to lose all your friends, and then bury your baby and have EVERYTHING in your world fracture and fall apart. I'm back in school, I'm looking for a job. I keep a clean home and I have learned how to laugh again, I'm taking BABY STEPS. My life is not going to recover as fast as they want it to, and I'm going to be sad a lot and have days when I don't want to get out of bed, but after I'm done feeling bad I will get back up and keep soldiering on... because I am still alive and I still want to be happy.
How dare anyone tell me how to grieve! I am doing the best I can... alone. so forget anyone who is so stuck on themselves that they can't emphasize!! I am only human!!

I lost my son when I was 18 years old. I spent the next 2 years partying my butt off, just trying to get so drunk that I could sleep without being haunted by nightmares. Having a drink before bed is FINE. It's not like you're drunk in the street, getting arrested, or getting drunk and being abusive t your family members.
Sometimes, we just need to do what we need to do in order to cope. You have the right to grieve the way you choose to.
