We had our angel baby on 11-1-11 (on his due date) We went to our last regular appointment on 10-26-11 knowing it was going to be our last because we were told that due to Jameson's size (he was 8 lbs 13 oz and 22 inches long) we were going to be induced before or on his due date despite the fact that this was our 1st pregnancy they were not going to let us go longer. They had a little bit of a difficult time finding his heartbeat at the appointment but did find it after a few minutes of searching for it. This was a regular thing, we were convinced that Jameson liked to play hide-n-seek with the MA's and nurses (especially the ones he/we didnt like). They said I was still not dilated, nothing had changed, he hadn't dropped anymore and was still at a -2 so we were going to be scheduled for a 2-step induction. I wanted to be admitted to the hospital the next night to start the cervidil and then my pitosin would have been started friday morning. However, the hospital was too busy for us to do that so we had to wait until Sunday night because they don't schedule things on the weekends. I was suppose to have an NST done on Friday which is usually previously scheduled but I didn't want to schedule then cancel so we waited until after out appointment to call to schedule an NST. However when I called they said they could not get me in until late Saturday. The nurse and I decided that at that point it would be silly since I was going to be going in on Sunday. So we left it at that. We showed up Sunday night and we got the largest room that was a labor, delivery, and recovery room, the largest room on the floor. We were excited and were getting settled in and then they cant find the heartbeat. So they are looking and having me move around and then they call the doctor in and they are talking about calling someone from ultrasound to come in and they had us pretty nervous and freaked out by this point. Then they had a portable ultrasound machine that was malfunctioning so they couldnt see anything at all on it. After an hour of trying at the maternity floor to get a heartbeat they took us down to ultrasound where they confirmed there was no heartbeat that was at 9 PM. After some time of denile and sobbing they took us back up to the maternity floor. At which time they tried to explain what was happening and what still had to happen. While that was happening we called my mother so she could be there for us. At that point it was just trying to figure out what was going to be next and notifying our immediate family. They started me on something to induce labor around 11 PM. The next morning around 6 they checked me and I was finally dilated to 1 1/2 and they started my pitosin. I was on just IV pain medication all day. I was checked again at 6 PM and was still at 1 1/2 so the dr manually stretched me to 3 and broke my water. At around 7 PM I got my epidural still only being at 3. But I was getting uncomfortable and they said I could now use whatever pain relief I wanted because now their concern was my health. Around 11 PM I could feel the epidural start to wear off. I asked for more pain medication and they gave me something through my IV, that didn't work. Then they gave me a bolus of more medication through my epidural, that still didn't work. They tried more medication by IV and through my epidural one more time. This was all in about 2 hours. At this point I was so physically and mentally exhausted and my contractions were on top of each other nonstop and I was crying and I couldnt breath and nothing was helping the pain and I still wasn't any more dilated or anything. At around 1 AM I finally decided that if nothing was working then I wanted a C-section. They also stopped the pitosin in admist of giving me all the pain medication. I was not going to lay there in that much pain to not have a living child in the end. They had advised me that it was up to me but that they highly recommend that I wait until the next morning. However, they were all understanding when we decided, after the epidural not working, that we wanted a C-section. So all the people and Dr's needed came to the hospital and we delievered Jameson by c-section at 2:48 AM. They had given me something so I dont remember much about having my c-section done. I remember getting violent tremors and shaking like crazy and I remember them showing me my son and I remember them wheeling me to recovery and my husband staying behind to talk to the delievering Dr. I remember everything after this point. All of this had started at 8 PM on Sunday and Jameson was delievered at 2:48 AM on Tuesday. I feel as though I tried but a vaginal delievery was just clearly not going to work for me. Besides I just could no longer emotionally handle what was happening to me. Sorry I have not shared my whole story at all yet and guess I decided to start with labor. So has anyone else ended up having to have a c-section? Replaying all that in my head also makes me wonder what if I had been able to go to the hospital Thursday night. They predict that he had passes away on Friday or Saturday. So what if the hospital wasnt "to busy" or what if I would have went for my NST like I was suppose to. I have a lot of what if's about that week and weekend leading up to all of this. I had went to the hospital on Monday 10-24-11 because I didn't feel well and I thought that maybe my water had broke but I wasnt sure and was really confused about what was happening. They checked me out and told me everything was great and sent me home. I can't help but wonder why I didn't be more pushy about my concerns. I felt something was wrong and they told me I was fine. I had gestational diabetes and went to NST's twice a week. I heard Jameson's heartbeat a minimum of twice a week for half my pregnancy. I don't understand how nothing was ever picked up as being unusual. The office called and told us that there was no chromosomal abnormalities and inital bloodwork didnt show anything and that it was not an infection and it wasn't a cord issue. So how after hearing his heartbeat so many times how was it just suddenly not there anymore and without a reason. Thanks for reading the begining part of my story.
When they mess up, the cause is unknown. I pray that you were able to have an autopsy done. You need answers... even if there are none.
I am so happy that you have found us. But, I am sorry about the way we have met.
Hugs!!!

I'm so glad that I found all of you too! Wish I didn't have to though.

Im so sorry for the loss of your daughter.
You will find a way to keep going some how and while you will never be the same person you were before Jameson, you will come to discover a new you and a new normal for your life. He will always be with you and we here at DS will never forget him!
Hugs!
i hope your c section is healing well, the worst part is having all the pain afterwards with no baby. I am 6 weeks out and feel almost back to normal (psyically anyways).
I have a lot of what if's that I still struggle with now, over 5 months out. Mainly I struggle with the "what if I had gone in sooner" scenario. She had slowed down a couple days prior to her birth day. The day before she was born, I hadn't noticed much movement and I was nervous so we went to the ER that night. They found her heartbeat but it was low and she was in distress. They decided to take her by c-section that night but it was not soon enough. Her heartbeat went away 5 minutes before they had her out and they couldn't get her back. I was 39 weeks along. She had hyper-coiled her umbilical cord.
I didn't get the chance to go into labor since it was emergency surgery and I was knocked completely out. I didn't even find out she was gone (or that she was a girl) until I woke up an hour later with lots of people surrounding me.
My recovery from the c-section went very well and smooth - which is surprising because emotionally, I was a wreck. My supportive family was the only way I made it through those first days and weeks.
Hope you feel better soon - it WILL get better!
