So my sister in law and I are going to see our tattoo artist today just to run some ideas by him and really see what he can come up with for me. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas they can throw my way?

I'll tell ya what I don't want (don't be offended if you have one like this, its just not for me) I don't want angel wings, baby feet, or his name. I was thinking maybe a family tree-ish something or maybe the quote we had put on his gravestone. Some thing more symbolic than obvious. I don't know....

My brothers getting a really cool tattoo for my son, his name was mason ryan haire so he's getting a rabbit in a mason jar dressed up like a king (ryan means little king). It's going to be kind of old-time ish mad hatter looking. It started out as a joke, then the more he thought of it the more he liked it. I'm excited for his. I only I could think of a clever idea for mine.

I'm like you I want a memorial tattoo for our oliver but want something original different from everyone else, I was thinking something like a cherry blossom tree idk but if you get some cool ideas please share!

For Ben's gravestone, my dad drew a monkey for me swinging from a tree branch (Ben's nursery was safari themed). I drew my son's feet on the monkey. Part of me would like that as a tattoo while the other part of me wants just a simple lotus flower. The lotus symbolizes purity, rebirth, spiritual awakening, eternity and beauty - those are all things I associate with my Benji. Who knows, maybe I'll get both; I hear once you get one, you want another.

It may sound generic but it's unique between Neo and I. I'm having my artist place a monarch butterfly on a white carnation on my left chest. Neo past on a Friday. I went to visit him the proceeding Sunday. In one of his bouquets was a beautiful wbite carnation. A monarch landed on it. It stayed with me through the latter half of my visit with Neo. A White Carnation is the flower the founder of Mother's Day gave to her mom. It means pure love and a woman's good luck. Native Americans believed that that butterflies carry our souls to heaven. I believe that was Neo visiting me, telling me, "mommy, it's ok." Since, Neo's butterflies always vis visit while I'm there. Hope you find a piece of art that brings you comfort. I am getting a blue forget-me-not flower on my ankle in memory of my son. I don't know WHEN I am doing this because I'm extremely scared of needles, but someday when I gather the courage, I will go.

LOL I was going to respond with, "That's what I did," but what you described as "not for you" is exactly what I did!!! I love what your brother is doing, That's very clever! Good luck with your decision making, sorry I can't be much help! : )

We've been bouncing ideas back and forth, and so far what I came up with was a mason jar (kinda copycatting my brother but oh well lol) holding flowers. Probably going to do it on my rib cage. If you google mason jar flower arrangements you'll kinda get an idea of what I'm thinking. Haven't really decided what flowers I want/ if I want color. If you can't tell I tend to be a bit indecisive haha.

My sister in law (kindof a hippy but that's why I love her) said it best, it represents beauty and life (flowers) coming out of a sad place (the jar representing my son/situation) . Which is exactly what I want, to she'd light on the positive in such a difficult time.

I had a c section with both of my children, so was thinking of getting there names and DOB written beside the scar's, got one scar for each child. but with a forget me not flower next to matildas name. havent got round to it yet though. and still not sure yet.

Look up flower meanings/ birth month flowers. Also tree meanings and birth month trees. I typically dont believe in that type of stuff but my sister in law and I looked it up last night and it's all pretty spot on. It's kinda creepy haha

My husband and I both got the same tattoo in memory of our daughter, Rachel. It is a cross with her name going down the cross, and her birthday going across the cross. I love it! We got it about a month after she was born.
