Eventhough I know it is hard to here these things remember he is 5 and he does not understand death. he does not understand hurt. I would suggest you talk to his parents and mabe they can sid down with him and talk a little more in depth about it. I have a 4 yr old that always asks about her brother and in times not in words that I would like to hear but she is curious and does not understand death. Loves

He doesn't sound like the type of kid that fear will work with. You might just make it worse if you were to try that. Perhaps if you take the "fun" out of it for him, he will stop doing it. I know my baby is in heaven, so I might try something like, "Yeah, she's not here on earth anymore, but she's in heaven where all the babies and good little children go." Only thing is you'd have to not appear too hurt to say that. You almost have to make it seem as if it doesn't bother you, and as much as I am a huge advocate of not protecting others and hiding our true feelings, I guess I recommend it for dealing with this kid.

you should try talking to your cousin. tell her what her son is doing and saying and how it makes you feel. make her aware and responsible for his behavior have her help you try that first see what happens

Yikes, you definitely have to talk to your cousin. Either he isn't actually being mean and just seems/looks like it, or she needs to pay better attention to how her son acts. Good luck-how awful for you.

Kids can be so cruel. I have worked with kids for 12 years and you would be suprised at how much they know how to push your buttons. I would definatly talk to your cousin and let her know what her son is saying. Give her the chance to take care of her kid, and if that doesn't work, I say take matters in your own hands. Even though he is 5, they know what they are doing. I am almost 32 and kids have changed so much from when I was young. I am a nanny and the little boy I take care of is 4. He sometimes asks me where my baby is, I just tell him she is in a special place called Heaven. Once when he asked, he told me my baby wasn't in heaven, but at Target!

I'm not certain he is fully aware of what being "dead" truly means. Perhaps you should buy him one of the books about death so that he can truly realize what death is.

My 5 year old did not understand what death was until Annaya was Heavenborn. Now she understands all too well. If a child is not directly involved in a death, they do not understand.

I was 4 when my Great Grandmother passed away. I vaguely remember the time I could not understand why the woman whose beautiful long white hair I used to brush, was in that big white box. I did not understand that dead meant gone away forever... until I went back to the house to visit my Great Grandfather and her rockingchair was empty and so was her bed.

He just needs to understand what death means and I think it would change his interaction with you!!!

I would talk to your cousin also. Maybe you could bring it up like....."I'm not sure how you address death, but your son keeps asking me questions, and I don't know how you would want me to respond" I'm sure she'll take it from there, and he won't be asking anymore. Kids are so curious. I have these three little girls that live across the street from me, and they were all waiting for me to have the baby. So, when I lost her, before we got home from the hospital, a friend told everybody on our street. So..... a few days after we got home, they all came over to me, making small talk. I knew they just wanted to ask questions. What did they do!!! The one pulled a camera out of her pocket and took a picture of me!!!! I was so annoyed!!!!
