I'm beyond mad at my Dr's office. We had our 6 week appoint this past Monday (it was really done at 5 weeks because I needed seen for another issue) Anyhow, at our appointment we asked about our test results since I can now remember and retain information. We were told what all results came back and what all wasn't/ isn't wrong. So my next obvious question was what other results were we waiting for. They said they would call me later that night and let me know because they had to get my records from the hospital to know what all tests were ordered. I thought this was a little weird since my Dr that I see is the one who delivered. But the office is on the same property as the hospital so it made sense too. Well they never called on Monday. I should probably let you know to save some confusion my OB office has 4 Dr's and a CRNP. Anyhow, I called at the end of the business day on Tuesday after still not getting a phone call and left a message. They (a nurse from the office) called me back 1/2 way through the day on Wednesday to let me know that the CRNP was looking into everything but that she wasn't able to actually get my chart from the hospital yet because "she is busy and the records department is only open until 330" Also on Monday they ordered me to go have another glucose test done to see if I am diabetic. But the test was fasting so I went and did the test on Tuesday. I asked at my appointment on Monday how soon did they get those results and she said usually the next day. So I still didn't hear anything yet today (Friday, its after 12 so the date on here will show up Saturday) so I called the office to ask when I might expect a phone call about what test results we were waiting for and what my glucose test results said and I had a question about the bacterial infection that I have. They (again a nurse) called back a few hours later and told me that the one Dr and the CRNP were going to call me together in a little bit. Well here we are 1230 AM and they never f'n called. I'm soooooooo mad!! They told me they were going to call Monday never did, called me Wednesday to tell me they were "too busy" and that they would get to it after I had to call them, then when I talked to the office today they said they were going to call me back later today and didn't. Now it's the weekend and I'm going back to work on Monday. Plus now I'm worried as to why I had to have a Dr and a CRNP call me. I'm pissed! I try not to swear a lot but this have me absolutely f'n pissed!! 1st this is potentially the rest of my life on the line and how I live my life and they can't find the 10 minutes to call me back! 2nd DONT tell me that I am going to get a phone call that I'm obviously never going to get! I understand that things come up and I can even believe that for 2 days not to get a call but for a whole week, really!?! I work for a Dr's office and I know how they work which makes me even more mad! I ended up getting in an argument with my husband because I'm just angry and took it out on him and then I had a breakdown and cried for a while then we talked about it and apologized and everything with us was fine a little bit later. We don't stay mad at each other ever for very long. Anyhow, I'm so pissed at the Dr's office that it makes me not even want to go back there. I would rather find a Dr that is associated with the hospital where my Dr that I work for is associated with. I don't know if that makes sense to anybody else but I don't know how to explain it. I'm soooooo mad and I cant get over this! I wish they had ANY idea about what I'm going through and atleast give me the courtesy of a phone call. They had been great through everything until this week and I have been very patient about test results... I haven't called once about test results until today I just want to know what we are waiting for its not like I want the results to be pulled out of thin air and be there I just want and NEED to know what we are waiting for. Plus now I know that they have my results and just didn't call me! I want to go to my work on Monday sign a release and fax it to the hospital and get my own results. I work for my PCP so I can do that if I want. I really want to and then I can read my own results. Seriously if nothing else they can't even give me professional courtesy! UGH I just want to scream!!

Sorry you are having such a hard time. As if you don't have enough stress in your life as it is now you have to deal with an unprofessional doctors office on top of everything else. I've worked at a doctors office in the past and it is quite possible for them to take 10 minutes out of their day and return a phone call. Especially when it is something that important! Shame on them for lacking the compassion and courtesy that they should have. I get so mad when I read things like this. I have always felt like I need to protect everybody and take up for them. I wish that I could call your doctor's office and yell at them and make them call you. Try to stay positive. It will get better. (Hugs) my friend

In this situation I think you are well within your rights to politely but firmly express your feelings to your doctor. Keeping you informed and treating you with compassion after the loss of your son is part of their obligation to you as a doctor and they need to recognize that it is part of your healing. I would tell them it's torture to be kept in the dark and that you're very upset that having been through such a tragedy with their practice that they didn't give you the courtesy of calling you back when they said they would. I would tell the nurse that you lost your son and that takes priority over whatever is keeping them busy at their office. And if that doesn't work I'd march down there in person. They need to know that that's not compassionate care. This really happens in too many doctor's offices. I'm sure they are very caring people and are just horrified by what happened in your case- no doctor ever wants that of course- but they also need to know that communication and information sharing in the aftermath is critically important to our healing and is part of their obligation to care for their patients.

Definitely request a copy of ALL your medicals records. I did that and found 3 abnormalities that they failed to mention - THREE! (you may have read my rant about that on here). This way you will have them and can read for yourself what they say, without having to trust that they will tell you everything. Sounds to me like they don't want you to know something...

I totally understand where you are coming from. After I delivered my son my doctor did not even come back in the hospital rooom to check on me stating I was "mad" at him. Regardless of if I was mad or not I never expressed that to him and he should have made an effort to care a little more. I was released the next day and I was seen by another doctor but not until late afternoon. Two days after I went home I was in extreme pain in when I used the bathroom. I called my doctors office and told them they asked for a urine specimen and called me in some antibiotic for a UTI. That was on a Friday. By Monday I was still in serious pain. I called the office a total of twelve times that day because I never recieved a call back. Finally I was able to get a nurse who told me that I had Group B Strep in my urine and I needed a different type of antibiotic to kill it. Mind you they should have treated me for that during delivery even if my son was born still. They had my Strep B test results from the prior weeks. I was 37 weeks along. On top of that I had a autopsy done and some genetic testing that was done with a peice of the babys skin that the doctor took from him right after delivery. My OB was supposed to call me with the results of both tests and I never heard from them again. To this day I still have never heard from them. I went to the hospital and requested all of my records and the autopsy. The autopsy came back normal but showed a tightly coiled cord which I had told the doctors was happening at around weeks 28 to 30. I was having problems with my sons movement and heart rate which the doctors were well aware of but did nothing about. They mad me beleive I was just overly paranoid. I am so mad with myself for not trusting my instinct. Then to top that off I got the genetic testing back some of it came back normal and the rest said insufficent tissue sample. I am so irritated with them that they even did the test if they couldnt even get a decent sample from my son. Obviously they have no idea how to do their jobs. They have no compassion for anyone else or there children. This was my miracle child and I dont even know if I will ever have another living child. I am just so angry with them. i saw a different OB for my six week check up and they still never called me to reschedule etc. I am now working with a lawyer to help get some justice for my baby boy Breyden. I am so sorry for your loss. It's bad enough that we are going through this loss and they make it even worse on us. When doctors do this it makes me think they are trying to cover something and this is why I dont trust doctors in general plus I feel half of them have no idea what they are talking about. Im not sure what you should do I know you have to work on Monday but maybe going into the office will shale them up a bit. Good Luck and I hope things work out for you.
