Yes, I would get horrible anxiety attacks to the point I couldn't breathe and my heart would palpitate. I've always suffered from anxiety attacks, but these were much worst and for obvious reasons very often. I eventually gave in and started taking zoloft for about 4 or 5 months that helped GREATLY. I never wanted to take any medication for fear that it would prolong my grieving process. It didn't, I still felt my emotions, still got sad, but that med helped with my anxiety. I've been off them for a few months now and the anxiety attacks have returned, but not as bad as before.

I remember leaving my house and feeling like the world just fell on my shoulders. The anxiety was extreme and I was on ativan. I can definitely tell you that that little pill did a lot to help me and keep me functional for my other kids. Without the pill it felt like mini heart attacks especially if I ran into someone who didn't know and thought they would ask me about it.

The only thing that concerns me the most is that I am expecting again and im starting to get the plaps. The doc said shes not too concerned yet but if it keeps up they will monitor me with some kind of vest thing.

Yes! I had them really bad before I got pregnant, and they came back twice as bad after my stillbirth. I wore a monitor, and they determined that they were just stress-induced.

Yep, it has been a little over 7 months for me and I still do. Losing a child is such a terrible thing that I believe sticks with you forever. I believe I will never be the same. It's like a part of you goes with the loss of each loved one. I do not always get anxiety, but I do get it. And it is a terrible feeling. WHat I think works best is to get the hell out of the situation I am in at the time. If I don't want to be there, I leave. If I don't want to go, I don't go....or if it's something I can't avoid I try to suck it up and deal with it, but it is never easy. That is when I would take half of an anxiety pill. Numbed me enough to get through. Anxiety is a serious thing and can make your body do some whacky things. BUT, you are definitely going through something normal! Hope it turns around for you.

Yes. I was diagnosed with panic disorder several years ago. I'm mostly fine except for the occasional bout of what feels like a heart attack (tachychardia). I take medication to control these attacks, and took the medication throughout my pregnancy (it was not what caused the stillbirth). Oddly enough, my heart palpitations completely disappeared during pregnancy, and have started to return about 2mths post-partum.
I think it has to do with stress and the decreased blood volume after pregnancy.
Go see your doctor for peace of mind.

The second night after i got home from the hospital, I had a terrible anxiety attack. To the point where along with heart palpitations my whole body was violently shaking. I called my nurse and she literally had to talk me through it while my husband held me. I have also gotten anxiety when my husband leaves the house and I am alone. I believe part of it was related to the pain medication I was taking as well. (Percocet) After, my doc switched me to vicodin and gave me a script for Ativan, which was immensely helpful for the night time. That is when it was the absolute worst. I am not taking it every night anymore, maybe every couple of nights to help me quiet my mind and slow my heart so i can sleep on emotionally rougher days, but it's been an incredible helper. I am no longer on pain meds, those only lasted a week or so - and only take the ativan if i really need it for that mind/chest quieting effect.
thank you for sharing your question...it lead me to this thread that makes me realize I am not crazy. at least not because of this. :)
