Hello ladies.
My daughter Alexandria was born still June 20, 2011. I've been doing a little bit better although the pain is still there...
Anyways, I'm a preexisting diabetic and dealt with it during my pregnancy and am still dealing with it now. I did not know I was diabetic until I found out I was pregnant with Alexandria. During my pregnancy I was taking glyburide, checking my blood sugar 4xs a day and overall changed my lifestyle. It was so difficult at first and took me some time to get the hang of it. I was also considered high risk because of it and was received extra care. I found out Alexandria had passed on the morning of my first NST when I was 31 weeks 6 days.
I had an appointment a week after Alexandria was born and my doctor mentioned to me that if and when I decide to get pregnant again I will be considered even more "high risk" then before. That will include more monitoring, more ultrasounds and more tests, etc.
I guess my point is that I feel very alone in all of this...you ladies are wonderful and give me hope but I still haven't been able to find anyone in the same situation as I as far as the diabetes is concerned, I'm Type 2 and can't help but feel that because of my diabetes my beautiful little girl isn't here with me today... Like I said, I struggled quite a bit with my diabetes in the beginning and had some high blood sugar readings every once in a while but I just can't help but think that it's my fault my beautiful Alexandria isn't in my arms...I miss you so much my sweet angel...Mommy loves you.

My daughter was stillborn on November 30, 2010 at 36.3. weeks. I had GD during my pregnancy but was told it was a mild case and always had good blood sugar readings. (It never got bad enough to require insulin.) I worried, however, that the GD contributed to her death, but all the doctors who weighed in her birth and autopsy said it didn't play a role given her size and how the placenta looked. What have your doctors told you?
I'm pregnant with my rainbow now at 15 weeks, but am doing the 1 hour glucose test earlier this time around at 16 weeks. I am seeing a high risk practice for all my care mostly for my own mental health. I really hope I don't have GD this time around (I didn't have it with my first pregnancy--my son is now 4 years old), but I guess the likelihood increases with future pregnancies.
