My husband and I have had the "attachment" conversation. I don't worry about him pushing me away but he has voiced concerns about when we do get pregnant again. With Rozie, when he found out it was a girl he was just gaga over her and she was totally a daddy's girl, her first kick was in response to him... she would wake me from a sound sleep when he left for work in the morning and so on. One of the first things he said when we started talking about trying again was that he didn't want to know the sex til birth and that he didn't want a lot of people to know I was pregnant. When we lost her we had such an outpouring of love from family and friends... which turned of course to sympathy. Neither of us handle the sympathy well at all and it came across as pity. I know he is scared of it happening again and so wants to detatch himself from the situation but I remember the doting daddy-to-be that he was and I don't know that he will really be able to hold himself back. I would say not to stress to much over it. Your man is still hurting no doubt but that doesn't mean that when the next little one comes along for you guys that he wont kick in to daddy mode again. Ya, I would say just be happy once you get pregnant and let nature tke it's course. I would give anything to be pregnant again, enjoy it.

This is a great discussion...I don't worry necessarily about him pushing me away, but I do worry about him bonding with the baby. He really wants me to be pregnant again and for us to have a living rainbow, but I don't think he is prepared for the stress of the pregnancy. He was away for a few months during the pregnancy for military training and I know he feels robbed of that time with Colin, so I am not sure how he will be. I wonder myself how attached I will be to another baby...and I hate saying that, but part of me thinks that I will put up a little wall of protection. That would not be fair though. I also wonder if I will want to know the sex or be surprised (again, I think that would be a way of protection for me...no name, just 'baby'). We talked about telling people too. Like RoziesMomma, we don't want people to know we are pregnant until we really wouldn't be able to hide it. We live out of state from all of our family and friends so that shouldn't be too hard. I just pray and hope that we get a chance at a rainbow and then just get to see how we end up doing throughout the pregnancy. What a crazy journey that would be.

I think my husband is extremely stressed about another baby. He knows how badly I want to try again, and he wants to do - I don't know if he wants to try as badly as I do - or if the fear is just getting in the way a bit. For me I go back and forth between if I need to but my guard up. I had a molar pregnancy - which of course lead to a miscarriage for my first pregnancy and I was so guarded for my second pregnancy - for my living daughter - that I feel like I didn't get to enjoy my pregnancy. Because I had a healthy, living daughter and my 3rd pregnancy was going so "normally," I really didn't stress at all and really enjoyed my pregnancy. I planned for my 2 little girls. I bought doubles of dresses. I was in love with the idea of my new life, my new family. I bonded with Molly. I laughed at her constant hiccups. I knew my little girl and I am so grateful that I wasn't guarded because in the end that was my only time with her. I hope I can be as open next time so that I can enjoy my time with my next baby - maybe this is a protection to, so that I can tell myself that if this ever happens again to me, atleast I got the chance to love my little one.

I think most of us have that concern about our partners. I know i do - when i fell pregnant Colleen he would not accept it until the blood work confirmed it, but once we confirmed it was a girl i would wake up in the middle of the night to find him having whole conversations with my tummy :) i did not push him at all about another baby and in fact he was the first one to come home and say he had enough of watching ther peoples children, he wants his own baby....and so i took my confirmation and am going to start trying in the new year.
The main reason i am worried is because i know i will do anything to keep my baby alive and bugger me ... where as he has to keep emotionally stable for me, worry about 2 of us and somehow be physically able to handle everything - i am not taking any chance with any thing. he is the one that has to try keep the stress levels down...be positive and feild any depression etc... adn all this while going through all these emotions himself. In some ways our partners have a harder job!
