Stillbirth Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have been impacted by a stillbirth. A stillbirth occurs when a fetus which has died in the uterus, during labor, or during delivery exits a woman's body. Its been 4 months since I lost my angel baby. But still, sometimes, the smallest thing can send me into tears.
I am an instructional aide for high school students with Autism. And I don't know if you know much about people with Autism but one thing about them is that they are more concerned with themselves than anyone around them. They have a difficult time with social interaction and situations. Which is why this took me by surprise.
Today we were talking to the students about thoughts that make you have different feelings. We went around and asked them what thought makes them feel sad. When we got to one of my kids his answer was, "When Mrs. Holt's baby boy died." I started crying. It stung but it was also comforting. My students care about me. Other people care that I'm hurting.

My kids (I'm a school social worker) have been a big help this past few weeks. Getting back to work was scarey, but the students make my day. My first week back, a truly ADHD boy who can be inappropiate 95% of the time, showed compassion by asking me questions about what happened to Nicholas. He said, "Good." after he asked whether I was going to try and have more children. He blew me away. First of all, he is a 15 year old boy and I would've never expected it from him. It really does make us feel special.
