Traditionally, a stepfamily is the family one acquires when a parent enters a new marriage, whether the parent was widowed or divorced. This community is focused on many of the relationships and issues that may arise within stepfamilies where you may find answers from some members and you may help other members with their questions.

I came home from grocery shopping and my flaky step-son, his wife and daughter were in the house! They were taking turns using our shower! Their daughter was using OUR computer. My stepson said he tried to call but I left the phone home. I didn't think I would need my phone. We don't usually lock the house up. I think I will now! They were eating our food and using our stuff! they left the bathroom a mess! My box of hair things is missing!!! I'm so angry I could explode!!!

That is rude of them doing this. I would definitely lock up the house. Do you have a password on your computer? I would put one on in case you are not home.

I would be very angry as well.

Can I ask why they came to your house for showers and not at their own place?

I'm not sure. my stepson has been out of work for awhile now. His wife has gone flaky. I'm thinking they might be homeless or they had their water turned off.

You and your husband should definitely talk to them, have a heart to heart and figure out what to do from there, and set boundaries.
