So my husband identified as female and is in early stages of transitioning. We have just come back from a lovely week away and he has missed a voice coach appointment that he booked whilst we were on holiday. It was done over Skype. I could have sworn he told me the appointment was today but it turns out it was on Friday. Whoops. He seems to tjonl/ feel like I have done this on purpose and of course that's not true. We were away and we have 2 small children. O have been very supportive but I am finding the mood swings and the suspision that I am forgetting things on purpose horrible. Also we got home late after driving for nearly 3 hours. Which he said he would do bit I had to take over after an hour cos he was sleepy (for him to read his phone the rest of the way home)and now we have got home he is sorting out some pictures to see what can be done surgically. Whole iI kno this is a big step I just thought he might have offered to help put my youngest to bed for me but he is more interested in sorting himself out then helping me when I need it. Sorry just wanted to vent a little
Unfortunately, yours is not an uncommon story. The specifics, yes, but not the generalities. Many spouses describe it as having a teenage girl in the house because of all the drama and the way they have of making everything about them. I don't know if I agree with that or not though. I have had teen girls and didn't have to put up with that kind of self-centeredness from them.
The good news is that it doesn't seem to be a permanent thing. Apparently, once they go through this "adolescence," they calm down. Spouses do have differing reports on how long it lasts though.
