I used to do the same thing with my car, by the time I got around to cleaning my car I would have a bag full of discarded cigarette packs etc. I used to try and hide the smell with deodorizer and I think it probably made the smoke even more noticeable.

In addition to signifying a new start it has kept me busy so that I don't think of smoking.
I put on a sweater the other day which has been in the wardrobe since before my quit and it smelled DISGUSTING. Can't believe the I and my house smelled so bad for so many years. What must non-smoking friends have thought of me.
