I have spent over 29,000 dollars on cigarettes over the years...How much have you spent?

I have no idea, but I bet it was a lot. However, I did open a savings account when I quit, I knew what I was spending on smokes, so I put in that amount, I got a stamen last week...you would not believe it after 6+ years @ $260 a month. I am a happy camper.

Most folks don't do that and I always wondered why, my Caregiver said it was because I was "weird"..LOL

I may be weird but I got the "dough"

I will confess, I did buy a pair of gold earrings several years ago.

Good for you. I just entered into the calculator: Amount of money per day on smokes x 365 x number of years smoked. I was shocked. Another reason to stay quit...I don't want that to go any higher. Grasping at straws now to just STAY QUIT!

no clue how much I've saved.....happier that the government isn't gettin any of it any more!!!! (that was my goal).
I always bought generic, but they were gettin expensive too. The taxes are outta sight for smokes!
Good thread tho.....will get others thinking about their savings!

Okay..... Let me see if I have this right.....Since I started smoking I have spend an average of approximately $24,914, Dennis has spent an average of approximately $33,968 that is a total of approximately $58,982 in our smoking careers. However to make matter worse....$50,469 of that (a couple of cars or wait in the '70's probably a whole house) was spent on the dag blasted stupid sticks in the time that we have been married and were raising the boys......How stupid we were that we could see how much money we were just burning up.... These numbers are not 100% accurate as I tried to average the price over the years. When I first lit up smokes were 23 cents a pack when I quit they were &3.++ a pack.

Hard to say because the price of cigarettes changed over the years but I can say that cigarettes were only 50 cents a pack when I started (1977)..... and I could buy them from any cigarette machine in any restaurant or store, no ID required....... I remember telling myself that I would quit when they went over a dollar a pack..... in the end I was paying over $7 a pack.
