Have you tried to quit before? It sounds like you have a different mindset going into this quit .
I am glad I found this place too . Hopefully others will join us . Keep in touch.
I'm still suffering .. but I'm managing each attack of the killer cravings as they come at me. I'm trying to watch what I eat too because I don't want to be piling on too much weight. I'm determined to do it this time though! I thought about buying a vape to ease the pain a little :)
Thanks for the heads up on the Alan Carr book .. I will look it up! :)
The weight will come off later . Just eat as healthy as you can and walk or throw in some excersize into the plan when you can . Excersise gives you that feel good feeling .
Vape I personally do not recommend . I have heard nothing but bad things from people I have heard try it . Most are addicted to that now or back smoking real cigs . It seems to be a good plan because we want relief but it does not help the with the quitting process .
The way out is just to go through the process smoke free with an approved NRT or CT and let your new life evolve . Are you using an NRT?
Rooting for you . Glad to see you this morning .
Some aids can lessen the withdrawal. It's not only a nicotine addiction, but a behavioral habit/compulsion, and probably some psych factors in there. We have to take this on with multiple approaches. Replace the action with something else (chewing, jumping jacks, anything). Make it more difficult by hiding existing smokes.
If you don't have any, don't get any. Every time we light up we're back where we started.
Let us know how you are doing :)
List the reasons you choose to be smoke free.
Read them over and over.
All you have to do is keep choosing to be and stay smoke free, you are doing it for you, for your lungs, your health, you are being kind to your body and by this action you are confirming to your internal feedback that you wish to do the right thing to help your body remain healthy.
Just think of it more on a psychological level, intelligent level. You are choosing to be be smoke free because you want to protect your lungs and your health, you want to do the best thing for yourself.
Keep up the good work, you can do it for a day, so you can do it for another day, you can do it for a week, so you can do it for another week. just keep choosing to stay smoke free.
