Hi all,
I'm new to this site and am hoping to get a lot of good information.
I am a new user of the CPAP machine. I have had it about 2 weeks and have managed to wear it every night. The first few nights for a few hours and now from when I go to be (around 11:30) until about 6AM. I think this is pretty good. I use the ramp which helps a lot and that "I can't breathe" feeling is almost gone. So it's working out fine.
I have a mask called (I think) a Zeft. It's a nose mask only. I'd like to try another mask - probably the pillows. This nose mask tends to make noise sometimes (a loud noise that is only on one side and won't quit) and leaks a bit.
Any suggestions about which pillows to try. I have to say, my medical device provider is the WORST! That is why I am coming to you for advice.

Now, if you're asking about brands I'm afraid I can't help you there.
Everyone's head shape and size, and face shape and size are different so what works for one may not work for you.

The biggest challenge to my success is keeping the headgear in place while I root around in my pillow in my sleep. I use a chin strap over the headgear which helps tremendously. If the air escape holes are blocked at all, it makes noise. If not, I can't hear it at all. Completely silent.
Everyone has their own preferences, so it's good that they make so many different kinds of masks. I hope you can find the perfect one for you. Good luck dear.
Thanks - and it's to funny. Today I found the nasal pillows that were given to me at the sleep center! So I am going to test them out tonight.
Yes, I am definitely feeling much better during the day. One of the scary things was that I was falling asleep while driving. And it was uncontrollable. Just pure exhaustion. I'm the mom of a 7 year old. So I can't have that.
One other question - I do have a SIM card in my machine - how do I check it?

Finding the right mask is certainly one of the hardest issues with CPAP. If you are strictly looking for a pillow mask, Ezja has offered superb advise. I also like the Resmed Swift FX. Please keep in mind that if you have any issues with air blowing out your mouth with this mask, you could try adding a chin strap which will help keep your mouth closed and try to train yourself to keep your tongue on the top of your mouth.
I, personally, cannot decide yet on one particular mask. I'm using three at the moment: the Swift FX, the Quattro FX full face mask, and the new Quattro Air full face mask.
Most places that you order the Swift FX from, will send you all pillow sizes. Remember, for this mask, the pillows lay below the nares. Some masks have pillows that enter the nares and this is not one of them.
