I need to vent. It has been a year and a half since my surgery, and I WANT MY OLD FACE BACK.

I cannot believe that these doctors cut off half of my nose and gave me, what I believe is, the wrong surgery. I am a disfigured freak!

I feel like in one fell swoop they took away my youth, they took away the idea thatI could ever be pretty again, they took away MY HOPE for the future.

I did make an appt. to go Sloan Kettering in NYC (new doctor). Earliest appt. was April 23. maybe I can get some hope there.

I never would have done this.

I am sorry, I also have a large scar on my face,but I know that the nose needs sometimes flaps, ask at Sloan about reconstructive surgery, I work with cancer patients that had had really excellent ones. Keeps us posted.

Ny ...vent away ,sometimes thats all we can do..short of getting done for murder with these doctors .
Scream and shout India ..we are here for you !

Fingers crossed for the Sloan Kettering appoint in April .

Bless Your Heart. I guess I should be thankful that I only have a 5 inch scar on my chest from surgery. Please know though, that I do understand and I never will know if I could be in your place.

I hope the new appt is able to help you. It would b so frustrating & hurtful to have such disfigurement.
I count myself lucky that I only have a red tip of nose to show for mine.
You vent away anytime.

I m so sorry to hear this, you should return back to them for the reconstructive surgery

I've been to four plastic surgeons who specialize in this, they can't do much.

You have the right to vent, have you contacted M.D.Anderson Cancer to the reconstructive department ?, I have seen excellent work with patients that had cancer in the face , not only skin but other types and reconstruction is remarcable, they even have a dental , vision clinics that participate to reconstruct a face.

I went to the head of the plastic and recosntructive group at Sloan-Kettering in NYC, which is a premier cancer hospital. He told me there was one doctor in the country better at this than he is. That doctor is located in Phoennix, AZ (Dr. Menick).

Although he said, my BCC was going to come back, even though I had the surgery, and I should keep all the skin I had, because I was going to need it for futurre occurances.

I don't have the money to to got ot AZ for surgery, etc.

Nyiac12 I feel your pain. There's nothing more frustring and disconcerting then this. I wish so badly that cancer wasn't so disfiguring in the first place. Hopefully your appointment will give you some hope. Keep posting and email me any time to vent. Peace be with you.
