Brain fog is a horrible thing. I cannot live without my calander and reminders on my computer and cell phone. I make lists for everything. Plaquenil may exacerbate this, but it's not the sole culprit. I don't take it and I DO have episodes of brain fog that can be emarassing to me. It is hard for me to multitask anymore.
Yesterday, I visited my primary residence and wanted to spend some special time with a dog we have there. I got started helping my fiance repair a pen and left without even hugging the dog. That may sound like a simple thing, but it will be 2 weeks before I see him again and he is such a sweet loving animal, and loves me so much that I felt so bad all the way home.
Just one example, but the most recent because I am still sad about it.
I just lost out on baseball tickets because i totally spaced. I'm sure some is just age related but my xmas episode was a couple yrs ago and it was painful for me.
I think plaquenil HELPS, btw , not a contributor.
I'm not THAT bad , but for awhile there I was a little more blonde than usual.
Menopause can in my case , be officially ruled out. :-)
For the past year I have also experienced what I can't exactly term as dizziness more than a sense that I'm going to black out. My head feels like it's being sucked into a vacuum and I have stand perfectly still and allow it to pass or I feel will fall down. This occured 3 times within the past week. It comes and goes just as quickly. I've also experienced this feeling while driving. Not sure if it's related to Sjogren's... but I am left feeling a little foggy afterwards too.
I'm not sure what is happening with my body at this point...
I went to McDonalds to get dinner the other night. Paid for it at the first window and then drove off. Came back around laughing and told the teen at the window that I was the idiot who drove off without my food.
I have to write everything down or I'll forget. Sometimes I try to convince myself I'll remember, then won't write it down and I always pay for that.
Sometimes I'll be in the middle of a conversation and I will forget what I'm talking about or what I was going to say next.
It makes you feel so stupid... and old. I know exactly what your saying Tom. It sucks...
You can almost hide your own easter eggs. Neighbors might think you are nuts though out looking for easter eggs in your halloween costume. Shhhh...... :-)
All while singing christmas carols.......
I remember when it first came on about same time SjS and me got aquainted. I was learning to use a computer. It was like the next day I forgot whole day before. Where is the on button again..... :-)
Yup, it ain't just age folks....this disease makes you so tired your mind forgets things easier. Well thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Gotta pay my taxes, gotta pay my taxes.......
Tom... I'm sure I could hide Easter eggs in my Halloween costume while singing Christmas carols. I'm a woman... I can still multitask on a good day! btw... That was funny! You had me laughing so hard I started choking:)
I also keep my finances and clothes and everything else in some kind of order or forget it.
Short term memory is the one affected most. When you are under pressure its impossible to remember things. Yeah, that's when panic sets in for me. I have always had a great mind , numbers get stuck there. I remember my phone number from when I was 8 yrs old. I remember numbers fine still.
Not quite like before though , but that's probably age.
Keeping things in order and my car keys on a hook has saved me a few times. I take way more mental notes now. I've forgotten peoples names while talking to them after just being introduced. True...
I need to associate them with something in my life for me to remember them. Otherwise forget it. Longterm Im still good can remember all kinds of things......good and bad. :-)
Pretty bad when you have a note on your windshield to pick up the food. Sticky's have their purpose! :-) As long as you can see out the windshield ok!
Ditto the notes, Easter egg hiding, name-forgetting, appointment missing, etc, etc....
I actually almost lost my job. This "fog" was so bad I couldn't multi task to save my life. Thank goodness i went to seek help when i did.
Now... this is supposed to be "funny" to all of you cool people out there...This "fog" It use to remind me of what it felt like when i smoked weed. (about a zillion years ago) LOL Not to worry i am anti drugs these days! :) Peace!
