I've been taking Cymbalta since last summer or before. I'm on 60mg right now. It helped for a while, but my neuropathy is increasing because of my vasculitis and the destruction of the peripheral nerves, so I may have to go to 90 mg although since I am on azathioprine right now that could just mean more affecting my liver. The blood tests say my liver is okay right now. Cymbalta does help. One thing I found is that it does make me more hyper, for me, and so I can't take it at night. I take two pills in the morning with breakfast.

Thanks, lynnedlou. I'm on 30 mg right now and he told me to take it at night, i'm going to start the cymbalta tomorrow night. I hope it doesn't make me hyper, i already am not sleeping well. Cymbalta messes with your liver? I have problems with my counts going up and down because of GI problems and my GI dr. said my liver counts would always go up and down, he always test them to make sure they are not really high.

I hope it works great for you. My girlfriend thinks it's the best thing since Evoxac. It gave me Stephen King nightmares so I couldn't get past the two week trial. Wish I could have recorded some of the plot lines and sold them to him though...would have fattened my retirement account significantly! LOL!

I was on Cymbalta for a couple months and it really helped with the nerve pain. Unfortunately, my insurance does not cover it and with all the other meds I am on, I just can't afford it. I have been trying to find something that is as effective, but have found nothing. My doctor mentioned Neurontin but said that should wait for a while.

Hi swhoff. I have been taking Cymbalta now for about 3 months and I noticed a relief in my pain level within several days. I have already been taking Lyrica for about 2 years and that really helped with my neuropathy type pain. It took several months for it to work, but it really did work for me. So now I am taking Lyrica and Cymbalta and the Cymbalta, helped to clear up other pain. I have osteoarthritis and disc degeneration and it helps with that too.

Both of these meds are very expensive and fortunately, my insurance covers most of the costs, so for some, the cost is prohibitive.

Also, it is definetly scary to start a new med and that's good to stary on the weekend, that is what I did, but I didn't really have any problems starting off with Cymbalta. However... I am definetly fighting weight gain with the Lyrica and now the Cymbalta. My doctor said it is like getting an extra 300-400 calories a day without even eating them.

Sat. night when I took the cymbalta for the first time I did not sleep much, I was up every couple of hours and my mind was going a mile a minute, last night was a little better. I did sleep most of the night, but I woke up at 4 am with a migraine. Hopefully each day will get a little easier, I see my rheum on Wed. The funny thing, I've only taken 2 and I have a little refief. I just hope my sleep pattern gets back to normal soon.

I've beeen taking Cymbalta since it was first approved for fibromyalgia. Worked well enough that I was able to stop hydrocodone I had used for years. I use Ultram now, which is far less addictive.
